They didn't even need a goalie with all those blocked shots
- DirtyDan

Vasilesky has been a wall 6 games and counting now.

With all those blocked shots, he still needed to make 49 saves last night.

They just held one of the highest scoring teams in three decades to 3 goals in 4 games.

Vasilesky saved 10 goals above expected according to evolving hockey throughout that series.

The guy has given up one goal in his last 7 elimination games. 6 shutouts.

The biggest choice to be made this offseason is if the Sabres want to continue to be losing losers that are okay with failure or if they want to start winning like winners. Make moves to improve the team, show the guys that management has their backs. There's no shame in losing as long as you tried and will try again. It's time to shift from the dreadful culture of being okay with losing for high draft picks.

Tanking doesn't work. Hasn't worked for us, it's more about getting lucky and having a bad season in the right year like Toronto, Colorado, and now Montreal. I'd rather watch a team make it to 17th than 32nd, at least it's interesting.

We can make light of this all we want, but the top seed in the Eastern Conference obviously doesn't know what it takes.

Strip club until 3am AFTER a loss? 🤣 Their skill players not showing they can play out of character and make the sacrifices necessary to win? Pathetic.

I said before the season started that I didn't think they'd make the playoffs. Obviously, a terrible take. But they were brought to school and paddled in front of the entire class.

Excellent post

It's the Stanley cup playoffs, do your job and out of character things to win. Dream about these moments their whole life. 3 hits in a 4 game sweep is pitiful

Not just sam23 but goes for all the Panthers.

And, as many of us have seen in 51 years of being Sabres fans, these moments aren't guaranteed just because you're great in the regular season.

The Panthers are loaded. Are they loaded with the proper players, however?

This could be the learning experience to get them over the hump. Like when Tampa got whooped by Columbus. Now they're unstoppable and out for blood

Wonder if florida makes some guys available or chalk up the loss to a dynasty?

Tough call, but florida has some guys that would look good in blue and gold if they rebuild (retool)

Gudas
Bennett

Would be absolutely welcome

Good post, maybe they don't have the "lockerroom culture" for some reason?

Trading for guys with bad effort reputations.

There's a reason Florida was able to acquire picks 2OA, and pick 3OA from 2014.

They have the talent, just not the winning petigree apparantly 🤔

Good post

Florida played well, but do they rebuild or hold steady and chalk it up to experience.

I'm with you, probably minimal changes and go for it again.

I think Brunette got fed his lunch by Cooper, and they got goalie’d for the most part.

Games 1 and 2 Florida outplayed Tampa at even strength but Vasy was the difference and special teams killed them.

Game 3 they got boat raced and deserved to lose.

Game 4 they outplayed Tampa but got goalied again.

Would have been interesting to see how that series went if Coach Q was on the bench

Starts with the leaders of the team not 2 guys who got brought in this year.

We get it you hate Reinhart.

I think the Sabres could have Fiala if they wanted him, for an extremely reasonable price. Career/age wise, how is he any different than Reinhart or Buchnevich?

I thought florida played great game 3. Atleast the first half. They out chanced Tampa. Hedmans Knee save and Stammer and company diving all over was the big difference in that game.

Exactly. Too much talent to really blow it up. Maybe this is a learning experience. Time will tell. Maybe add more guys with playoff experience?

Vasilevski has been great. There's no denying that. However, when it comes to first round goaltenders, he's the exception, not the rule.

Do they make the new guys sit in the hallway for team meetings?

They brought in the vets , maybe to do veteran hockey things. Block shots, hit and score at a reasonable pace in comparison to the regular season.

I get it, you love reinhart. And were proven wrong again

I think they put to much trust in Barkov and Hurbredeau.

There was a PP in game 3 i think where they did the same pass across crease like 3-4 times and Tampa knew exactly what was going to happen. The look on Giroux face when the whistle blew was like "why tf are we not trying anything else"

I just wonder if they're too talented a team, if you know what I mean.

Go find your Bob Nystrom and/or Butch Goring.

Not according to Minny fans, who think they're getting a top 10 pick, young prospect, naming rights to the street taco's when born, and some chips and salsa for him.

Plus, the obligatory additional second.
