I appreciate the attempted discussion spark, but this seems wildly out of bounds for GMKA and his slow-play draft, develop, and wait approach.

Im keeping my expectations at an absolute minimum. He probably goes bargain bin/reclamation project in net, maybe a meager addition to the blue line, and stands pat with rookie addition to forwards. Kevyn is in no rush at all.

With so much draft capital, there are many possibilities. Im just at the point where i can't picture KA doing any of them. He seems so committed to draft/develop/wait...

So I have a little mental dilemma. Today is my Son's 18 birthday, and I don't know if I should give him his present I bought him. I am a avid shooter, I have been taking my kids shooting since they were 7yrs old. So I bought my son his own Sig Sauer for his Birthday, but with everything going on I don't know if it is the right thing to do.

Give him his gift. It’s something you guys have shared. If he’s a shooter like you he will understand and appreciate it. Maybe don’t give it to him in front of the entire family. Make it a more personal moment between the two of you, like I’m sure many of the days on the range you guys have spent.

With everything going on, I recently bought a new rifle. I immediately told my brother. It’s something we’ve shared over the years. I got him a 45/70 lever action for his birthday one year. Great hunting gun and short, so good in the brush. But mainly because the collection needed a lever action. On the other hand, I haven’t told my sister….

Thanks, hard not to think about it. But the gun will always be in my gun safe when not being used or cleaned.

It just seems unfair that you have to feel this way about a gift for your son. I wish I could give you some advice but my only thought is you know your son better than anyone. You have been his mentor and guided him to be the man he is now today. The answer is what the two of you decide upon today man to man. Sounds like a good relationship that would have no problem with any discussion.

I don't know how you can make such a comment. For the last year + he had to right the ship. There was no other option. Now that he has capital and most of the kids are here there is no reason to think that he wouldn't make hockey trades.

In this lunatic society? Good for you for teaching him to handle a gun responsibly.

Look at these kids who do these school shootings: beta male incel cucks who play mass murder video games 5 hours a day. Serious question: Does that sickening phrase describe your son? If so, don't let him near a gun. I'm guessing since you seem to be a good father your son is nothing like the sickening phrase above, in which case you're gifting him self defense: a basic human right.

Love me some Tkachuk, but not at the expense of Dahlin.
Joker, 2022 -1st (9OA), Olo/Mitts (& R2 if necessary) ... sure.

I love what I'm seeing on our blueline with Samuelsson, Power, Dahlin so I don't want to disturb that.
Adding Theodare is highly unlikely but man-ohman would that be solid...run each of 1st two pairing at 25 ATOI and put pylons out for the other 10 lol.

Interesting.

It's a handgun, not a semiautomatic...there is a difference.
It is going to be locked-up with your guns, and he won't have access to it.
He is not mental, I assume...he hasn't displayed signs of mental issues, doesn't have a drug or alcohol problem, lives in a family environment and has been trained to treat guns with respect. He is socially adept, with friends and not been bullied nor shunned at school and other social engagements.

If that is ALL true, then I say give it to him.
If not, don't.

I know this site is for discussion and prediction. But I’m just skeptical Kevyn is gonna suddenly go big game hunting for a tender, defenseman, and high flying forward.

I think he sees a need a net. Does that translate to a significant trade to upgrade the position or just acquire a budget option until Levi is ready?

Does he go out and get a big time defender to play with Power, bumping Joker down to the bottom six? Or does he he stand pat with this top four and bring in a reasonably priced vet to supplement?

A lot of forward spots are seemingly already spoken for. Does he trade away one or more of these, in a go for it type of move? Or does he replace Eakin with another similarly priced and skilled player?

I really wasn’t trying to knock KA, but a lot of the trade proposals I’ve seen would seem to be a little out of character with what he’s said. He really believes in this team, and prospects as is.

good post

I think it's finding the right 3 guys

top 6 guy
RD
Goalie

for the goalie , I am fine bringing tokarski back as plan C to go with 6K as plan B but you need a goalie that can play 50 games if needed at average or better

for the D man, it's tricky
I think if you find the right guy that can play 18 minutes a night you can slot him on second or third pair as joker would still get extra minutes with pk duty

up front, it's just as much of a question of who you part with

it's a numbers game and if your bringing a top 6 guy in, you really need to move on from a guy
looking at the list for locks
skinner
cozens
tage
tuch
krebs
quinn
peterka

that's probably 7 of your top 9 short term with okposo, asplund, probably girgens, and hopefully r2d2 for the last 4 slots

so it's casey or olofsson and the addition

long term I expect the 2023 pick at 9 to be ready in a year, 2 at the latest so if getting a long term fixture then it could mean the end of casey and olofsson within 2 years

or they stand pat up front and use the cap space for 1 or 2 d men, bryson may not be safe, and a goalie

it will be an interesting offseason, I hope

In time, not just yet maybe another year. They will pay our own players first, Adams doesn't think we need high end big money players to win.
