I agree that the AR coach, after Ralph, definitely had an advantage of just not being Ralph. Next year is a big year as expectations are high. Personally I'd rather take that chance with Trotz. Waiting one more year to see what he can do isn't the smart move unless Trotz wouldn't consider coming to Buffalo.

If you would like to watch Okposo, Pysyk, Anderson, Eakin, Girgenson, and a bunch of other over the hill vets become team leaders in minutes played, all the while minimizing TOI of the young guys; then Trotz is your guy.

His destiny is to take an underperforming veteran team and refocus them on playing an ultra-conservative defensive system and squeak out 2-1 wins. VGK, Philly, Stars, Leafs are better fits.
Absolutely do not let him near a young roster requiring on the job development like the Sabres.

I can agree to that. The question then is when does this shift from development stage. I dare to compare to the Leafs but this reminds me of the Dubas/Sheldon combo. They are in long term development
