The organization gave up on Marcus Foligno and Erod too quickly, I don’t think it would be smart to move a guy like Asplund on a great contract who seems like a perfect bottom 6 winger on a playoff team due to his defensive acumen.
He is showing some offensive upside at the world championships, if he can give you 35-40 points next year he’s a perfect role player. - Pegullaville
Jbotts trading foligno and delo left a toughness void.
Same with moving bogo and ek9

He's looked awesome at the worlds, but that could be competition? - DirtyDan
Of course it's competition.
We know what Asplund is. If he can be a 40 point forward, he'll be extremely valuable.

i do get annoyed how everyone pounds the gavel on gun control but very few talk about mental health awareness, teaching and over medicating instead of treating - SabresFaninIndiana

Wasn't he a ppg player and our leading scorer for like the first 10 games this year?
Before going like 30 games without a point
- DirtyDan
Asplund played with Tage early in the season, the line got results.
Mitts and Olofsson were struggling, Asplund joined the line, they got results.
Cozens played his best couple of games in my opinion at the end of the year with Asplund and Okposo.
Asplund has a very underrated skill in being able to play with a wide variety of players and the puck always seems to be in the offensive zone more often than not.
Outside of Tage, he’s probably the best value contract we have, and if he can finally start converting on a lot of the chances he’s on the ice for, look out |

I don't think the organization gave up on Foligno at all. You gotta give to get sometimes. I think most people hated giving him up. |

I understand people are reacting to the events of the last two weeks, but just like in this country until there can be a true honest discussion with both sides of the political spectrum nothing will get done.
That being said this is not the place to have this conversation. It is getting to a boiling point so I am just got to put a lid on the talk.
Can we talk about how Mike Smith yet again Mike Smithed? - Stripes77
Just saw this one. NP
Mike Smith likes to embellish. Always has. I like when goalies flop, and I like when guys run them to an extent. Part of the game. Ron Hextall was such a fun player to watch, but you can only have one of him. Who doesn't love a good goalie fight though? I will forever remember the big smile on Ray Emery's face during the entire brawl.

Very observant post
Selke swede definitely helped every line he played on defensively. Needs to get girgensons type goal #'s or better though. He would be a lock for years in this lineup |

I've really liked him since we drafted him. Always thought he should have been given a role in previous years where he was shuffled in and out of the line-up

i gotta think both sides would actually agree that needs work.. but instead they continue talks about the polarizing/dividing items so they get their funds from lobbyists... also can't lose the money from drug companies |

I like Talbot as a target , 89 mentioned that.
Why change both Johnson and asplund?
Maybe pick 16 + Johnson
Do you feel like asplunds value is better than Johnson? - Boss34
Player vs prospect.
If Johnson is bolting for FA (that needs to be sorted out yet) to go to his favorite team then, to me as GM of a team that isn't his target; he has very low value to me. |

I always looked at it as foligno for scandella and ennis for pommer

Actually, there was a process and it was followed. There isn't a crystal ball with this stuff. I have a friend that works for the FBI in this area - you can go out at any time and find thousands and thousands of people that fit this profile.

I'd use him regardless of his intentions. I don't really care. He's a luxury asset, close to breaking into the NHL. For Fiala specifically, it gives the Wild a nice cost controlled defensive option for the future.
Personally for me, Portillo holds higher value than Johnson. Again, regardless of signing intention. |
