that's the issue with these world championships, if the best players from each country aren't playing it kinda loses its significance, at least for a lot of folks in North America. it doesn't mean though that it can't be entertaining to watch, and that the players representing each country don't care about winning. - Pat1993
I think Pat, once You put Your Countries Jersey on You care, or they wouldn't go. Some Players, after being knocked off in the 1st Round here, flew to Finland to play, Pasternak comes to mind. I'm not defending The Worlds, far be it, it's not the best Players in the World, it is what it is. And again all Countries are probably missing some of their best, while I lived in DK, they get pumped for this because they still see some of the Best Hockey Players in the World, maybe only the Olympics are above it yet how many players cop out.
Canada has always sent 2nd Tier Players, who cares, it's Canada playing. Hockey Fans care, I would bet You are among the Minority, look outside HockeyBuzz. - henny1953
I'm sure fans in Denmark and in other countries outside Canada care, but what really matter to hockey fans here are the stanley cup playoffs. I'm sure tv ratings reflect what I say as well.
If the tournament was really important, it would not be in the middle of the stanley cup playoffs and guys like Suzuki and Caufield would be there. There's a reason why they wanted to take a break instead and focus on next season. Because that's what matters.

yeah, personally I haven't followed the tournament at all, I probably would've watched it if I was craving hockey, but the NHL playoffs are there, so... to me it doesn't necessarily make it less important, but yeah the timing kinda sucks in a way if they wanted to maximize the viewership here.

Nope.
Most ppl (except maybe you) don't give a frank about that tournament.

Almost as if the iihf schedules it when all the leagues directly under iihf are complete
Seems odd to bump an article about Montreal's farm team and prospects when their are 8 NHL teams still competing for the Cup. Maybe there is an Oilers article that was also calling for Mike Smith to be benched after Game 1 in favour of Stuart Skinner and his 13 career NHL starts. I noticed Smith bounced back with 2 impressive wins, but Skinner probably would have had 2 shutouts. - Cooleus
I think you lost your way, didn't you follow the breadcrumbs ?
