He's a 30 year old speed wing who broke out at 27. He plays with centers in their mid 30s. He is constantly missing time. So yeah unfortunately I don't see 4 good years out of this contract.

Can't fight father time. Pens are just trying to stay relevant for a few more years and this helps.

There was big change coming no matter what happened this season. They went all in for just this year and it failed miserably. Between Barkov and Verhaeghe's raises and the increase to Yandle's buyout, their cap usage is going up over 10 million. Right now they have just 16 players signed with less than 4 million to spend, and only 1 2nd and 2 3rds the next 3 years. No one's taking Bob, so they are going to have to get really creative. Should be interesting lol

Having a journeyman 3rd string goalie and losing a top 6 winger , top 2 pairing Dman and #1 center can really affect a playoff round. We did have a good team, played a lot like in our back to back cup wins as opposed to the last few years.

The Pens overachieved this year. Tristan Jarry had an insane .940 save percentage half way thru the season. That carried them into a playoff position.

You can and must continue to build this team around Crosby. At some point you need to start to build around Jarry. That can start now by making good decisions on your defensemen. We need to pare the d-core down to young cheap players. This needs to be our focus in the draft. Second rid yourself of mediocre overpaid older guys like Pettersson and Dumoulin. Then bring in one or two as rentals at the TDL to fill out a playoff run.

How about last season when they won the division? Oh right, bad division, wait until this season when they have to play other divisions...oh wait a minute, they were in the battle for 1st, being 1st a few times, up until March despite playing with a skeleton crew most of the first half of season.

How about the Rangers? They overachieving with a full season .935 goalie? How about the Canes with a .922/2.07GAA? What makes a good team anyways if goalies aren't a part of them?
