Had season tickets in my family since 1970 and personally for 20 years or so. I know plenty of folks not renewing. Not one is concerned about the style of play a future good flyer team will play. No one cares.
Hiring a Trotz without a doubt would help season ticket sales. The biggest issue this team has had for years is overall defense and Trotz is the man to address it.
People that pay for seats want to see two things. 1. Hard work
2. Winning
If you don’t give us number 2, you better give us number 1. Recently we are getting neither thus the cancellations. It’s just that simple.
No one cares if the flyers tell their forwards to self dump if you can’t stick handle or pass into the zone. No one cares. We want accountability and winning. That’s it.
The flyers are not going to tank. They are not. You can argue if that is the right strategy. That’s fair, but they are not tanking. With that said, hiring Trotz makes perfect sense. W their cap situation hiring him makes perfect sense.
Now does he come here - who knows. If I’m TO I’d hire him in a minute. They are many high profile jobs like that one he can simply choose from.
He is one of the best coaches in the NHL who has a history of fixing defensive issues and demanding accountability. No, I’m not concerned that Trotz would stunt the artistic creativity of Frost and our juggernot 3rd line…

Yes please become the Buffalo Sabres. They are now set up with more than philly has had in over 30 years. Please stop lumping buffalo into a negative. Yes the rebuild with eichel didn’t work. Thing is they tried a path and adjusted very quickly.
Dahlin
Power
Cozens
Tuch
Levy
Upl
Quinn
Thompson
Peterka
The list goes on and on.
They have tons of higher end prospects
We have tons of lower end prospects.
Would love to become them - Stayin alive
3 first rounders this year (1 top 10, 1 top 16), 2 second rounders (including the Flyers') next year and the league's most cap space. They're gonna get some assets this summer for other teams' cap dumps. |

They wasted one of our 50 contract slots on someone who could be replaced by blindly pointing at a list of names.
This move speak to the hopelessness of next season within the Flyers upper management - Shrike
You daft? If they signed someone else thats using one of the 50 slots as well. Every 7th D in the league is replaceable by blindly pointing at a list...... The slot is filled by NHL Dmen that can land a bottom pair gig in the NHL. It makes no sense to wait until July to get another Seeler like Defensman.

So let me ask you this, if your #7 dman has to play as much as Nick Seeler did would you want someone who is better than Nick Seeler?
Why the rush to sign him now? What valid reason is there?
Also now that it appears the 1st year is a 1 way contract. Does that not effect the amount have cap space they now have available? - hello it's me 2050
No it doesnt. 1 way contract can still be sent to the minors. He makes the league minimum, his full cap is buried if not claimed. Whos a better 7th D than Seeler? Please enlighten me on this great Dman that cant make the top 6 on an NHL squad but is a massive upgrade over Seeler? Also dont forget someone better than Seeler gets more money too
I already gave you a valid reason to sign him

Flyers situation is good for him. Fletcher has a blank check and is probably the most likely to allow Trotz to have a say on how the team is built.

Why wouldn't his cap hit currently not count against the cap since he is now signed?
Your valid reason is invalid. Just a waste at this time.
who is a better 7th than Seeler? No one you got me. Chuck hit another home run. Yeah you aint defending the flyers in any way.
Oh wait Nate Prosser is better...

Agree 100%. However, you do not need to lock him up in May. Literally a few hundred players that can do what he does.
Maybe Trotz secretly loves Nick Seeler as a player. - mickel25
I can’t stand Nick Seeler. I think he offers nothing. Total Fletcher move. |

His .775k currently counts while on the roster. Again, negligible. Like I said, they can send him down to the minors if they want and bury it. If they sign any other 7th D hes going to count against the cap too.
They had a 7th D in the system. They re-signed him. Get over it. You literally sit there and female dog over the dumbest things.
Just for the record I didnt defend the Flyers over Jones. When he was signed I did not like the signing. He played better than expected. I defend moved that make sense. These no reason why any other 7th D would be a better fit than the guy who played on the team last season and is a known player or would you rather Fletcher go out and get another Yandle or Stewart instead?

Captain Comfortable. You can’t even properly evaluate 14 years of talent on your own team.
Plus your nicknames don’t even make sense. How do you land on Shemp? Where are my other two stooges to feed off of?
Should I call you Flanders or Newman for no earthly reason at all? Of course not because that would make me stupid. |

So now then the flyers have 775k less in cap space to use. Yeah def smart to lock in Seller now. No fn way he would be available at the end of July.

If the Coyotes offered there 2023 first unprotected would you trade the Flyers 2022 and 2023 first rounders for it? - mickel25
The Flyers would make this trade and then their own 2023 would end up 1OA. |

Murray tried to rush the process by trading Impicks once he got eichel. Traded high picks too. It failed. Because it wasn’t go time for them. Eichel era who knows if not rushed by Murray. It backfired setting them back for a few years. But they have been rebuilding for a few years and moving eichel Reinhardt turns page fully. Very very smart and done quickly.
Unlike philly who rode g/Jake etc for yearsssss for nada then doubled down on 30 year old coots Ellis and bad trades extensions.
It’s literally a manual on what to do and what not to do

on paper the moved Murray made looked fine imo Clearly didn't work out. Kane Bogo Lehner should have helped them much more than they did.

An AHL level player who can fill in, in a pinch. Not exactly the first move you’d expect in an aggressive retool. |

Trotz is the best coach available. Really isn't much debate about that.
Those saying his style doesn't fit the Flyers. What available coach style fits the garbage we've seen the last two seasons? Get the best guy available, let his professionalism, attention to detail, and holding players accountable shape this into a competitive hockey club.
I believe in order for the Flyers to land him, they must have him signed at the end of tomorrow's interview. Once he walks out the door without a deal, he will go elsewhere. |
