Saint Ronnie hasn't done anything to help the Pens move forward in his 2 years. What has he done to help the holy trinity get past the 1st rd? - hello it's me 2050
They probably get past the Rangers if Jarry wasn't hurt. But then, most likely get knocked out next round anyway.

view it anyway you like. The info is there you refuse to look at it. Not hard to see what 5 to 7 players are part of the core for that last x amount of years.

The Saint hasnt helped their cause though. He didn't go for to so to speak, when you should be with those 3 on the roster.

Let me get this straight. Trotz, who literally coached the Predators from the ground floor up for 15 years, is the wrong fit here because you're afraid the Flyers might improve too much to pick again in the top 5 next year' (as if even Bedard would single handedly turn things around thereafter). - bmeltzer
Of course not, but he expedites the rebuild immensely. |

Trotz is the ideal coach to improve that, and he has shown he can coach everything from modest rosters to Cup contenders as effectively as possible. Damn right I want him as coach if he wants to come here. - bmeltzer
No doubt the man can juice blood from a stone, but like OP said, that's not gonna do the Flyers' lack of talent any favors.
If they hire Trotz, it'll be like his time in Nashville, where they'll peak as early round fodder and give the GM the excuse to start trading 1st-rounders to try to get them over the insurmountable hump.
They do need somebody who can pull their team game together and earn buy-in from the players... but I'd rather it be a coach that can grow along with the team like Brindy or Cooper. |

likely scenario we hire trotz
he brings his goalie coach who doesn't work well with hart
hart asks for a trade
new goalie sucks but not enough to get us a top pick
hart wins cup elsewhere
trotz fired in 3 years and we're back to square one |

Trotz would be perfect for Florida. Top guys would sacrifice some points but with such a weak D core a more structured game would help them immensely. They still would score. If I’m him, I’m at least waiting to see if that job becomes available. - ClaudeFather
Florida is not going to fire Brunette. Especially since he was just nominated for the Jack Adams

So you do not have a specific list? That's weird. You seem to have all of the answers at the ready most days. CC and JV are gone. The head of the snake has been cut off right? - mickel25

Isnt that what Trotz did in Washington? Trotz coached WSH to Stanley Cup. He got a defensively irresponsible Alex Ovechkin to buy into the team Defence and it didnt hurt his offensive game at all.
Trotz is the right coach for this team. He is the guy that will get someone like Provorov back on track.
GM doesnt need an excuse to be a buyer. Fletcher and any future GM is likely to do regardless of who the coach is.
Trotz is one of a few coaches that could make this team successful. WPG has the Manitoba connection with Trotz but they may not be willing to pay the premium for Trotz. It was also mentioned on TSN Scheifle would not be the type of player that would fit with Trotz

That would be great except the part where there isnt a rebuild. Fletcher has said he is aggressively retooling. Bedard doesnt appear to be an option unless Fletcher is just saying what management wants to hear and purposely makes move to make the team worse which is unlikely

I dont even need to wait to tell you that you are wrong. They literally just won their first playoff series since 1996.
They are not going to fire the coach because they lost to the defending cup champs in the 2nd round

They’re not likely to fire him but does he want to coach. His track record suggests he may want to be a GM or in upper management.

This was not their pick for head coach, what don’t you get. Their PP is currently 0-20 in the playoffs and might be the death of them. Winning a round isn’t enough, they are all in. You have no clue. |

How does what I said equate to 'Hextall is the only GM that never made rash decisions'. I hated some of the moves he made. Umberger for Hartnell only to buy Umberger out a couple years later. Trading for Filppula. The JVR signing. I especially didn't like Hextall's drafts, not even counting the Nolan Patrick pick. - TobyFlenderson
My point is you seem to be presuming that Fletcher is going to make rash trades and free agency signings. Based on last off season maybe you are right, but I also feel that the moves Fletcher has made since joining the Flyers have been much more calculated than rash. In 2019 I hated the Hayes signing, not because I dislike the player but more because I hated the term and cost. However we needed a 2nd line center given the health and lack of development of Nolan Patrick. Trading for Niskanen was a great move. The Braun and Pitlick trades where also smart moves. In 2020 I liked that Fletcher did very little, just getting depth veterans like Grant and Thompson who both added value down the stretch. In 2021 I liked the Ellis trade and the Atkinson trade, both again were needed moves to be made. Obviously signing Yandle was a horrible move, and trading for Risto was not the best thing either. Dumping Ghost for nothing was clear act of desperation and I believe it would have been better for Fletcher to wait until something better opened up for Ghost. Signing Martin Jones turned out to be a good move also.
So when you look at all the transaction over the past 3 seasons, nothing comes across as rash to me except the Ghost trade. Everything else, whether it worked out or not, to me had good reason behind the move. |

That's easy, if the goal is to get the number 1 pick next season, or at least the most ping pong balls, just hire Lappy to coach the Flyers. But there are no guarantees that even if the Flyers are the worst team in the league they will get the number 1 pick; remember the annual porking of the ping ball balls. Secondly, there is guarantee that Bedard will be a franchise savior. As we see with out a lot of top picks, health among other things is a significant factor in their development. |

If the goal is to tank, Yeo proved to be a worthy candidate also. Speaking of AHL, they better have a plan. Zamula, Brink, Attard, Forrester, and others will probably be there. No reason they should be in the basement of the standings.
