Tough loss after two top defensive periods this season to lead 1-0 after 2 per:
Canes: 6 scoring chances, 14 SOG on 37 shot attempts with 12 NYR Blocks
NYR: 13 scoring chances, 23 SOG on 45 SH. ATT. with 12 Block shots by Canes

Canes adjustments in the 3rd tested Shesty per their 13 scoring chances to the Rangers 6, in tying both the score 1-1 & scoring chances at 19 thru regulation. Of key, the Canes replaced Svechnikov with Teravainen to play alongside Jarvis & Aho, resulting in Aho's game tying goal with 2:23 left off his own rebound after Shesty's initial save on his semi break-in, with assists by both line mates.

You can't have "the kid line" being both your best & only line performing for 60:00, & expect to win a game, yet this series now down to the top 8 left. That while those "kids" are still learning how to finish, per two instances in failing to extend the lead to 2-0.
(1) Chytil not elevating the puck at the opened right side doorstep off Kakko's pass from the middle, resulting in Raanta's skate save robbing him of his second straight goal in the 1st.
(2) Kakko's missed 3rd period shot shy of 7:00 left at a wide open net from a lower left circle angle.

Goodrow's loss hurt this game. Gallant would have deployed him in any key situation to help seal the deal that 3rd. But I'm surprised he didn't make an adjustment to deploy Motte alongside Strome & Copp coming on ice with slightly over 3:00 left at 1-0. He to replace a struggling last night Panarin, whose leg weary backcheck resulted in part to Aho's semi break-in & tying rebound goal. Motte had last seen the ice through a little over 5:00 remaining with his line mates.
