The whole series will be like this, both teams were top 5 in goals against this season. Get ready for few goals all series

Yeah I don't expect a Oilers/Calgary game, but the top 2 lines will have to contribute. If they don't its a short series

Kid line was good.

Panarin might as well have not played at all.

I do think that part of it was that the Rangers were trying to play a tight road game and were more worried about keeping the Canes in check and to the outside than they were about actually creating anything themselves.

You can't do that against this team. Rod doesn't have to say anything. The guys in the room will shame eachother into getting going if they're playing like poop. You HAVE to attack them and make them play in their own end. because sitting on a one goal lead will not work. Period.

Well, I don't think you can honestly say they were sitting on a one goal lead. Give Kakko 20 more tries at that open net and it's 2-0, 19 times. Also a crossbar by Laffy and a post from someone else. We just have to bury our chances.
As much as I agreed with many that said it's all gravy now, I'm feeling a little disappointed we didn't come away with the win. Should be a real good series.

Pretty much. Its a balance that they haven't seemed to figure out. Its either all defense, or all offense. I think the kid line did it well. They played decent defensively and quick out of their zone and attacking in the canes zone.

Yeah after the first period I had a feeling this was the Rangers best chance to really get into the series.

If they had pulled this win out I think they get into the Canes' heads a little bit and the series becomes more of a toss up.

Instead Carolina got back into it and regained their offensive confidence. They'll be coming out like a wrecking ball next game.

Belief is the key in the playoffs. Rangers could have gained a lot of it last night. Instead.....

They gained belief, the first 40 minutes did that. The last 20 showed they can't lay back and/or need to be aware that Carolina can flip the switch. Far from an ideal end result. But this team had been resilient all year as seen last round, losing in triple-OT and the winning followed by rallying from 3-1 down. This one, though, really is a gut punch.

Fair enough. I do think they need to find a balance. Canes are NOT a juggernaut as much as I hype them up. They're prone to getting in their own heads if a team can shut them down for a game.

That doesn't mean that I am not really chafed at the loss and it doesn't hurt. But they should gain some confidence in way they played even with a lousy performance from top-six

They should try to relax and clear their minds. A bunch of jerks might help.

One of the big things was getting that first goal. It took the momentum out of the building. Once the Canes got that little bit of momentum 2 minutes into the 3rd period and the building came to life the Rangers were on their heels the rest of the game. They need to find a way to score first in game 2 so they can play their style and not be on their heels letting Carolina dictate the play.
