I don't think any of us would have believed this game would end 2-1 in OT
Certainly better than the way they have manhandled us the last 7 times we played them. If we had to lose in OT at least it was quick and not triple OT

Blowing a 3rd period lead, eh? My apologies if this is too soon.

Interesting line stats, per
@NatStatTrick
.

While the Kid Line was on the ice, the #NYR had an 11-3 advantage in scoring chances.

While the Rangers' top-two lines were on, it was 6-18.

I think a big take away for the Rangers, as a group, is that they feel they can win vs Carolina. This should mean productive, experience gaining games to put in the bank.

There is a lot to be gained in this series unlike 2 years ago when Carolina made them question everything.

Man. Still a bit of sting to that loss!
I just feel horrible for Kakko. A tiny bit pissed at him, but mostly just hope that's not a moment that haunts him. Would love to see him put it behind himself right away with some good production Friday night.

I thought Kakko was real good for the most part last night. His ability to come off the boards and be a threat could be a big game changer for this team.

Last night was the best they looked all playoffs and although the sting is real, I think they can take alot from that game moving forward in this series. The whole game was played 5 on 5 and the canes did nothing for 45-50 minutes of it. They had a 2-0 lead on kakkos stick but it missed. This type of loss is one you learn from and maybe next time they do win the game.

We also have to think realistically, and it’s not a defeatist attitude…ok we get by the canes, then we have a Florida team staring us down..and after that, the Avs or Flames. Watching the west teams, either of them will absolutely destroy us. We aren’t there yet to compete with them. Avs look like the Soviet red army and the 80s Oilers had a baby. Lethal. I’m not ready to see that series go down yet because it would be ugly. Take our lumps now and it’ll be better for them in the future. Imo, the org has already viewed this season as a success, and they should. After a terrific regular season, winning a round the first time you’re in is a huge stepping stone, and statement for that matter

I’m not upset by this loss at all. Growing pain city. If they can get this series to 6-7 games I think it’s a helluva job. Canes are a very well rounded built hockey team.

Seeing the replay, it's unfortunate Kakko's shot went wide, but its not like he was standing there and got a pass from a teammate, he was flying by and the puck deflected off a Carolina skate right to his stick. It was a bang bang play, and he just missed the net.

Only thing I wonder is if he waited a split second to gather it or if it would’ve been to late where Raanta had time to make a save

I’m not mad at him. Last series I would’ve been

The whole line has been great. That is the single one thing that needed to happen over anything else these playoffs, was for them to find another gear and they’re doing it. By far the best line last night and most of the playoffs. Really really bodes well down the road. Chytil looks like a different player then the reg season

Right after they tied it you knew they were losing this game. You have to play a full 60 minute game.

I'm pissed the top 2 lines contributed nothing offensively. That whole game was the kid line. As a team they played well defensively. Sucks losing that way but there were a bunch of positives they can take away from it. Just win Friday. The Rangers seem to like playing from behind, just like JRR
