What I remember from this situation was him crying he would leave Edmonton despite never accepting to cave for a 500k difference, on like a 6.250M per contract.
I mean if it was THAT important to you, (frank)ing say yes and stay. Or don't cry like a female dog and move on like Danault. - Scabeh
Pretty sure he cried when traded to the Ils for the playoff
Then said would be back with Oilers
maybe what You remember is him not coming back over a 500k difference ?

Frenchy's a Russian spy, he probably has Yurov and Miroshnichenko 1 and 2, Jiricek 3rd, and Mintyukov and all the other Russian deserters as NDs. - jugkope
since you joined the Mexican/Polish cartel, your opinions are so controversial!
I haven't seen any of them play but based on needs and BPA from over 10 draft lists I saw, I can't see the Habs passing on a skilled 2way center.

yup, but the exception doesn't make the rule though... 2012 was quite possibly one of the worst draft years ever, I don't think there are many players who were basically a #1 consensus but failed miserably.

Not many indeed, even guys like Nico Hischier who aren't the best of their draft class are still pretty good NHL players.

yeah, and I think Yakupov was a warning sign for teams that didn't pay much attention to other variables such as attitude and work ethic, which were surely problematic in his case... Galchenyuk could probably fit in this category as well.

They always, ALWAYS do this.
Except when it's a clear cut #1 like Crosby or McDavid.
Hell you heard the same nonsense about Laine and Matthews and good lord was Matthews the obvious choice there. - Scabeh
Matthews playing in the Swiss League did actually make it a unique situation. I don't think anybody has ever been drafted higher than the second round who played there in their draft year (Josi). Even Leafs Legend Luca Carreda was in their junior league in his draft year.
