how so?

Some people only remember the shift and don’t remember what an absolute knob he was off the ice. Homer definitely moved him at the right time. Dude should have never been a captain.

being a knob off the ice means nothing in terms of overrated. Still do not see why he was overrated. Each is their own

I mean I didn’t say it so I’ll let the other guy respond. But when you’re a Captain you’re supposed to be held to a hire standard and Richards didn’t seem very interested in that.

Seemed to be a very good Captain to me. Gave everything he had when he played.

Richards was one of our best players while a Flyer. After his stint in LA he died off due to an addiction to pain killers. Richards was not overrated at all IMO. As far as his ability to lead the team, some of that could be questioned. On the ice he lead by example, off the ice I think he was maybe a bit more of a distraction

Mike Richards has got to be the most overrated Flyers player in the past twenty years.
- KGBflyers10

Probably but I could also say the same about Sean Couturier. Richards was a winner. He pretty much won at every level of hockey he was apart of. What’s disappointing to me about Mike Richards is, he was sold to us as being a leader. A leader to me is committed to his team and the sport. While he was here, partying with the boys seemed most important and how he basically walk from the sport never to be heard from again tells me he never really cared.

Agreed! He had one dynamic shift in flyers history but he didn't do much else outside of that. I was never a big fan of him
I'm glad that I'm not the only one

Overpay Malkin for 3 years Chuck. He seems like he would be ok moving on...10 per may get it done......aggressive retool

Trade Ivan for picks, then sign Letang as well. 2 /3 players away.

Yes and he is currently on the hot seat. Might get fired already.

Pens fans were ripping Hextall for his signing extension of Jeff Carter after their playoff loss. Whoops!!

I'd like to see what happens if Provorov is traded to a good team.

Like Justin Faulk, I'm sure he'd do quite well on a deeper/better team.

Carolina also improved after trading Faulk away, so there's that.

Malkin in a Flyers sweater would be 100x weirder than when LeClair was on the Pens

Appleyards opinion on Ginning:

…..” hopefully he can turn into an NHL player.

But if I am honest? Hes been a 3rd pairing level guy in the SHL+is already 22.

If he was not a 2nd round pick and instead a 5th I doubt he would have been signed given progression. #Flyers
Has solid physical tools, above average skater for size and okay hands.

But just a bad gap even on bigger ice, sometimes struggles in small areas with losing man, and just gets out of position too much.”

That Carolina team with Faulk would be a big step up.

Off the grid on this one, but just an observation: Clean shaven Tocchet on the set of the Canes/Bolts game. Either he’s making the rounds for one of the head coaching vacancies, or he’s already been hired by the Pens’ organization, whose management forbids front office guys to have facial hair (aka Hexy clean shaven when he started in their front office). Yup, when you’re a long-suffering Flyers fan, you’re reduced to finding something/anything to comment on.
