Trotz is 59 years old. Even if a rebuild, I don't think the Hawks (supposed longer) timeline would coincide with his

What KD publicly says and what he really thinks aren't necessarily the same.

It seems like a wash on Bryam and Dach...one is a concussion away from retirement and the other is fighting his lack of success and production surrounded by lower level teammates.

Looks like the number one pick, young lacrosse player Zegras and the midget in Montreal look better so far.

If Dach turns into a legit two way 2C who can score 20+ goals and 60 or more pts and plays on both special teams, would you consider that a miss?

Not saying he will but I’m also willing to give a 21 yo more than a couple injury riddled seasons to find his game to see what he can become.

No not a bust at all.

Not at all. A 60 point player that can play very good defense would be great. And I think that is his sweet spot in terms of ceiling.

This past year was pretty weird. Its really tough to pass a lot of judgement on many of the players with all of the org changes, off ice issues and coaching change.

I agree that he should be given a bit of time to find himself, but I also think that by the end of next year you'll have a pretty good idea of what the player can or can't be.

Don't know about you Chunk. Getting the wife in the mood with some wine and you're posting on Hockey Buzz.

Nah, she doesn't work like that. She's a belligerent drunk. I have to work on her when she's sober.

Huh...

EDM went with the 11F 7D arrangement, and it went about as well as could be expected.

Why do coaches keep doing this?

Hindsight being 20/20 I guess it worked since Russell only played about 5 minutes, but still.

I wonder if someone tracks the stat of win percentage when starting 7 dmen. I can’t believe it is .500

It's called courtesy. Also, since he has some familiarity with the club, they likely want to see if he fills enough of the other criteria they are looking for.
- Chunk

KD has said he wants a coach to stay all the way through winning a cup. That would seem to me to target a younger and already successful coach, maybe from college, minors or CHL. King probably wouldn't fit that, an established coach might depending on age.

King will go to see The Bobs and interview for his own job, but I think they will be looking elsewhere.

If Dach turns into a 2C / 20+ goal scorer / 60+ point guy that means he’s been sent to Rockford.

Caufield was the best pick in the 2019 draft. I recall somebody here advocating for the Hawks to draft him, but I can’t remember who that was.

Caufield must show that he can avoid the big checks and pounding in the NHL grind. Byram, another heralded talent, has not been fortuitously avoiding the concussion issue. Martin St Louis and Patrick Kane, two reknown players who have [had] productive injury/concussion free career, is what Caufield needs to emulate.

All I am saying, is the diminutive Caufield needs to beware. How Caufield and Wright mesh in Montreal is good theater fothcoming.

Possibly. Not trying to doubt Caufield engineering a productive career. Yet I do notice DeBrincat is more solidly built and has endured the physical checking. I hope Caufield does well
