Exactly!! Kept believing the crap they were putting out. Clearly there are enough younger fans out there that they can keep the same mantra. I prefer an aggressive approach after six years. I have no beef with any of the players, I like them all, just saying this recipe does not work…..they are paying the core so much there is no room for enough quality support to ever win.

You have a good point about the money being paid to the core. With the flat cap that really is a problem. Imo Tavares is here for the duration, same for Matthews of course, Willy is on a good contract for what he brings.

The one deal that bugs me is Marner’s, as good as he is. I think if you trade him you get a couple of players who could change the narrative.

Marner might have been the team’s most valuable player - pretty damn close. I can’t think of a trade that brings back a few players that improve the team as much as losing him affects it negatively. I just have this image of three Kerfoots on a line.
