I think so. JC is a fragile being…and goalies are already a fragile bunch.

Hey you hurt my feelings when you say those untrue things about goalies....oh wait a minute......

Nevermind actually.

The NHL can say he can't go into the States, no way they have that much power.
- bobbyisno1

Pretty sure they do.

He can cross the border but the NHL can say he can't play or be around his teammates.

I'm definitely tired of Dubas hoping for a discount goalie + D lineup every year.

"Oh look, our minimum salary replacement backup just got a shut out on his third start ever.... Cup this year!!!"

Okay, so let me get this straight:

Lost to the Cup champs in a close 7 game series but lost in the 1st round the last 7 years...last year was especially painful kinda like the 4-1 Boston extravaganza.

GM and coaches are apparently safe.

The team is still too top heavy with no increase in salary cap for next year so unless a trade from F to D goes down, nothing really changes but spare parts.

Trading block for me: JT would be #1 but obviously that isn't happening so:
1. Nylander
2. Sandin
3. Mrazek

Almost $12m out.

I like the idea of Nylander and Sandin to Arizona for Chychrun and Crouse posted earlier, it seems like a fair deal both ways...maybe they would take Mrazek too if Dubas can grease up a good deal for the Leafs for once.

The line up looks like

Bunting, Matthews, Marner
Crouse, Tavares, ??
Kerfoot, Kampf, ???
Engvall, Spezza, Simmonds (he's signed so?)

Rielly, Brodie
Chychrun, Lyubuskin
Gio, Lilly
Rubins

Kuemper or MAF
???

What else can you do, really????

Get to work Dubas, fill in the RW blanks and back up tender or get (frank)ed female genitalia.

- underhill14

heard a former NHL coach on the radio today saying Nylander has been on the market for 2 years. the reason he is still a Leafs is that there are no takers.

Is he not Canadian?
Cause I don't think it matters now.
I can cross the boarder without testing.

- bobbyisno1

I went into the states 2 weeks ago, had to show proof of vaccination to US border services on the way in. I'm not sure what the outcome would have been if I had said I was not vaccinated.

Coming back into Canada you don't have to be vaccinated but if your not you have to have a negative test result within 24 hours or something. If you have proof of vaccination no testing required. At least that's what it was at the Windsor/Detroit bridge.

You are a gullible fool if you believe that

If that is even remotely true that a coach said that he said it to further stir up the Leafs to weaken the Nylander market, nothing more.

This doesn't sound believable at all and why would a coach know who is or isn't on the market, nevermind a 'former' coach.

I call BS.

Mirtle said the other day that a few GMs were trying to stir up that the Leafs saying they want to shake the core and that it was all bs to try and stir them up.
Seriously the article is on the athletic.

Do you think they should move on from one of Matthews or Marner?

I think they should move on from Marner and Nylander. can't take another game 7 with no shots on goal. They had 2 power plays I believe and no shots on goal from either of them.
At least put Marner down to the second line and try to get a couple gritty forwards for Mathews, he's playing with 2 babies.

Interesting and I actually like the Marner / JT combo. I think they need a tough winger on the other side of JT in that case and I agree they need at least a big body, winger who plays big with Matthews and perhaps Bunting on the other wing still.

I'd be hesitant to move Marner but I am at a place where I just expect Nylander will be gone.

I guess we will see how the summer goes.

Losing is part of being a sports fan. Now that we have a good team people are saying they’re done. But why weren’t you done 15 years ago when we sucked year after year.
- shack67

Exactly!! Kept believing the crap they were putting out. Clearly there are enough younger fans out there that they can keep the same mantra. I prefer an aggressive approach after six years. I’ll see you all here next year with the same results and what will you be saying…..? Losing is part of sports sure, but the Leafs are the poster boys for losers. The Dubas recipe doesn’t work and he is going to take the whole bus over the cliff with him…..
I have no beef with any of the players, I like them all, just saying this recipe does not work…..they are paying the core so much there is no room for enough quality support to ever win.

To be fair Covid kind of did a number on him, I believe the cap would be well over 90 mill now if not for that. But, he really should have known Tavares would decline at his age. This is year four and it's already looking bad.

I don't like Bunting there either, he falls down way too much. trade him while his value is high.
