So their sights NOT set on higher tier tender if JC walks, then??

Right.

Yes me and Chris Johnston are allowed to have different opinions.

I know you can't understand that so I will cut you some slack.

I think Drysdale might need to change his number in 2 years

I'd consider that a positive change, except Campbell.

Depends on his price.

Friedman said they offered him 2.75M.

JC likely wants 4M.

Wait so the core is now 7 players? See this is why I want to know what people mean when they say 'the core' but more importantly I want to know what change they want specifically when the post about the team being flawed and needing 'change'.

What change? Who stays and who goes? What is needed? What is not?

Yes I'm being demanding.

To me it's the difference between those who just say something sucks vs those who say something it's flawed or it isn't ideal/great or working but here is a suggestion that I feel would make it better and why it could or would make it better.

Personally I have all day to listen to those who bring solutions to problems, but pretty much zero time for those who just make blanket complaints that often lack any specifics at all or make it very difficult to figure out what the specifics are.

"They lost again, they suck and big changes are needed" type of statements tells me nothing other than someone is upset they lost (which I get and share in) but the back half of that just comes across as whining to me.

They lost and it really sucks, but to me it's possible to view it and accept the fact they lost a VERY CLOSE series to a better team vs having to single out a scape goat or 2 / 3 regardless of if it's coaching, goaltending or a specific forward or D or a combination of some of those. I'd rather hear suggestions on what they might need to do to become a team better than they are today, better than Tampa is today & I have seen some really interesting takes on that for sure.

Common thing I have seen is that many agree a big piece (like perhaps a Nylander) would have to move to allow them the cap flexibility and/or different set of players to better balance the team.

Just my observations and preferences.

I did all of this - last spring/summer - when I argued many times that our cap situation - 4 @ 40M - had and still is preventing management from properly balancing the roster. I advocated significant change to create cap flexibility last spring.

Fact is we are still in cap hell. Diminishing assets, few draft picks, and Dubas constantly scuffling to fill out a bottom six with castoffs, hasbeens, and hopeso's. Our bottom six was a big part of why we lost to Tampa. Now, we possibly dont have a goaltender.

It's bandaid solutions with Dubas, and Leaf fans deserve better. Instead, we get "run it back".

So what "high end" goalie are we apparently targeting?

It's confusing because you're still not saying anything that amounts to an actual change, just a vague reference to moving money out and moving money in. That doesn't actually mean anything.

This is before we get to the part that we may be whining about not having a goalie now despite the idea Campbell fits your exact definition of being one of Dubas' Band-Aid solutions.

"run it back" is very quickly becoming nothing but a catchy name for your tantrum.

Back from the bullpoop ban. Can’t even have a friendly chirp on this website. Anyway told you all they would lose and they did. Eklund running this website like the nhl. I did enjoy the conversation on Saturday it was wonderful. As a flyer fan I can only hope the leafs panic and trade Marner . He and nylander were way more noticeable than Matthews and Tavares

If the back up to the back up is making almost 4 JC is worth it.

I would argue as much as we love to think every player wants to come play here for the Leafs it's a tougher sell than we think when the other options are places with less taxes and far more freedom and immensly less media attention/pressure.

See - Stamkos, Steven.

- Cush29

Oh I think Toronto is near the bottom of most players lists. The exceptions would be the ones who grew up around here and have always wanted to be a Leaf. That is a pretty small minority.

Nylander for Meier would be a wow trade, but I don't see why San Jose, or the Leafs would do that.
Saw some rumours on Twitter about Scheifele. So, who knows? Maybe him?

- PatC80

no deal on Meier.. .he's gonna get a minimum of 9-10Milly on his next deal due to how the current contract is structured.
