Completely disagree with your perspective

Its nice to see you are one of the few on here with that perspective, such a nice change of pace compared to last season

- Santo_44

After last seasons playoff loss, I wanted this core group to get one more 'kick at the can' because of how poorly they played in Game 7.. I felt that they needed a chance to prove themselves, that they are better than that..

After this playoff loss to Tampa, I think they deserve another chance again.. It was a good series, one in which I feel the refs played a big part in.

The core 5 or 6, or whatever Dubas was eluding to, will be better next year.. Maybe this was their final lesson.. They needed to see how truly hard it is to win..

Like Gretzky and the Oilers after they lost to the Islanders before winning their first Cup.

Sure - but - "with a player like that" Bruins have been to the Finals 3x and won once.

Not gonna be there every year unless you have a stacked team. Bruins are hardly stacked.

- Nasty_Duck

I'm not suggesting he isn't valuable or doesn't have characteristics of a good player. I'm suggesting, lots of teams lose with those types of guys.

Waaaaay too comfortable for everyone around the Leafs country club

That isn't how Masai conducts business at MLSE.

People should NOT be made to feel comfortable with this. Dubas just doesn't have the royal jelly. Not a winner.

- fifty__missions

Yes I know your feelings about Dubas and Co. You stated to me some weeks/months ago that even if they won you'd still think Dubas and the team construction was wrong.

No. I did not expect that.

But his tone is wrong. Again.

You must be a great PR representative for a major business with your explicit knowledge of how to run media press conferences. Shouldn't you be paying attention to your clients currently in front of the media in Toronto?

Oh right...you're here.

Yeah he said he is not trading for worse players with lower cap hits so he can add other worse players with lower cap hits.

If Nylander is traded its to get back a similar or better player with a lower cap hit.

Only way I see it is if they add an older player or a player with 1 year left so the value evens out. Hard deal to make.

- Santo_44

It's a hard trade to make.. In most cases, you lose that trade..

A guy I would like them to target would be Yanni Gourde.. I think he'd be a good fit here too.

The NBA is also much different

One player makes a much larger difference and the NBA also a league where you have to be a top 5 team or you are absolutely not winning a championship. There are rarely upsets.

a lot of fans wanted the Leafs to give an honest effort and show that they care enough to put it all on the line. I think they did that.

Most fans can live with a loss if they feel the team gave it their all.

I dont need heads to roll, as long as they keep trying to improve. Shanny/Dubas I am satisfied with them.

also this. they do a lot of things every offseason.
its possible we have another goalie next season

- senstroll

No...adding Kampf, Kase, Campbell, Mrazek, Gio, Boosh, Blackwell, Bunting and then getting rid of his mistake is Ritchie and moving on from Dermott is running it back.

He is okay but his contract is not worth his play.

Miller would be great for next year but hard to imagine they bring him back at his 8.5M asking price.

Bertuzzi is my prediction. Dubas has been around this guy for the last 3 years and if it wasn't for the vaccine mandates I think he is a Leaf already.

You can make his contract fit with or without Nylander NEXT season. But also you can trade for him and immediately sign him to an extension.

Yzerman is open to trading him and Bertuzzi said that he is open to a change of scenery if a trade comes along.

With how badly they needed to get a top 6 winger last TDL and didn't...really makes me wonder because getting him wouldn't have made sense while the mandates were in place.

The decision on Matthews is next summer. You can't go into the last year of his deal with him unsigned.

I appreciate that Dubas acknowledges he's made mistakes and tries to rectify them.. Like the Ritchie deal..

If they can re-sign Boosh, Blackwell, and Gio, it's a good start to the offseason. The challenges for the Leafs is to find a legit LW to play on the 2nd line with Tavares and solidify the 4th line. Potentially a goalie too if Campbell walks..

It's gonna be a tough summer but I have to believe that the Leafs brass has plans in place.

Mrazek. Gonna cost us more assets.

If Jack walks, wtf do we do for a goalie?
