Yeah the coin flip in a tight series can only be fixed if you blow up the team and start over and hope for a heavier one sided coin in 7 years.

I’m just going to wait to see what really happens prior to puck drop next fall.

I hate to break it to you but losing 3 of the last 4 games isn't a coin flip nor a tight series.
- bobbyisno1

Yeah the NHL should figure out how to make games 4,5 and 7 worth more.

Unless of course the Leafs win games 2,5 and 6 but lose the first 3 of 4. Then the other games should be worth more.

The leafs also won the first 2 out of 3 games. Or won 2 out of the middle 4 games.

I am willing to bet Malkin is a Capital next season

Weren’t they close before? I’m sure I heard game 7 collapse more than once…maybe not.
Just a tweak here and there…that’s all they need. Maybe a couple more OG’s with experience and excellent locker room skillz.

Awesome. You’d probably get the same results. I like consistency.

Leafs want a Kawhi move.. they'd never do it.. But call the Caps on Wilson.. Because that is what everyone is clamoring for..EVERYONE....

I mean what's the point in picking and choosing what results to use to fit a narrative?

Lots of good teams make the playoffs and don't do anything. It shouldn't take away from being a good team, especially losing to a good team in Tampa, who is making a run at a dynasty this year.

The window is still open for this team and they just need to figure it out. I don't know what that is but I don't think it includes giving up on all of these guys. Look how long it took to get here, I don't understand why people want to throw away Marner/Nylander/JT/Rielly.

“We’ve lost in the first round [for] the last four years: we’re going to explore changes,” MacLellan told reporters. “I don’t think anything is off the table. We’re going to talk to different teams and monitor the trade market. We have to identify free agents.

I mean, he did say anything was on the table

If he wants to identify free agents(Malkin) they need to trade away cap. After they sign their goalies and the rest ion the roster that likely only have a M or two to play with.

To cheat and play with no class or integrity? Lots of guys who 'know what it takes to win' don't resort to that BS.
- Cush29

More than almost anything else, the Leafs need a player EXACTLY like him. A guy who will do *anything* to win. We just don't have that. That's why we lose - continually.

Perhaps you worded that incorrectly... but I don't see people looking to "throw away" those guys... just looking to balance out the roster using 1 of those guys as a trade chip.

I for one would be open to using one of those guys to get Chychrun in a heartbeat.. would you ??

It would have been more palatable to listen to it starting in Mid June though...

No. Here's why. Trading them away would open another hole in the line up. The 2nd line struggled because it didn't have consistent good wingers. Mickey didn't prove he is a real top 6 winger.

Further, on D, we had Reilly, Gio, Muzzin, Brodie. How do we think Chychrun would make it THAT much better with bigger holes up front? A lot of people think trading Marner/Nylander would bring more balance to the team but like the team had four 5+ million d-men. How would a different one make it that much better?

I am not against trading players to find something but it can't just be "Well if we change a winger and put the cap into defense there the team is fixed." It's not that easy in my opinion.

What is annoying is some people can't see the Leafs have a good D core and if Gio signs nothing will change there.

Of course they could use a Hedman. but its not happening right now.

Washington has a guy like that. They lost. So does Boston. They lost too. Islanders have one or two and they didn't even make the playoffs. Winnipeg does and they didn't make the playoffs either.

Let's ignore how many teams lose with these players every year as well....

In your opinion - not everyone else's or certainly not mine.

Boston just got bounced in the 1st round, how did that happen with Marchand on the team?

I simply don't believe having Brad Marchand as a Leaf in this series vs Tampa would not have changed the narrative except perhaps lots of moaning and groaning about him taking another stupid penalty.

To me using a term like "do anything to win" doesn't excuse the terrible lack of sportsmanship and class that player brings to the ice more often than not & I would not want that associated with my team but different strokes.

Spezza and Gio both would be open to coming back to Toronto. I am less certain Gio is coming back since Calgary really wanted him at the deadline. Depends on how much and if he feels this team can do it before Calgary.

cuz I was interested, I look at the 1st round matchups.

if you picked the team that had the higher reg goal differential, you would have went 7-1

the only team that lost with a higher Diff is the Leafs

naturally
