Good list.

Matthews would be nice, but the 3 above are beauts.

Bergeron is nominated every year.. It's tough to come up with only two other good candidates.. have to think Matthews will win one eventually

I don't buy that argument.

Would have loved if Liljregen and Sandins ELC's ended last year. Would be much cheaper next season when we are trying to contend.

I know. It's funny: he was way more polite and reasonable on the call; not like the poop posting on Twitter.

We need some size in bottom 6, guys who can hockey, and play physical.

- gravyface

We need size on the wings on the top six also. Willy and Marner can't win puck battles on the regular, the centers are big and strong. They need big guys on the other wings.

its (frank)ing brutal

hockey loves its "unsung heroes"

Sign David Bolland again so we can have a true "clutch" player

Maybe he just needs to kill a penalty once in a while.

That's your Kawhi move.

Just listened to Marc Methot's hot takes on TSN about the Leafs.

Says we need a Nick Paul, says Engvall needs to play like he's 6'5", Nylander's gotta go...

- gravyface

Marc hates the leafs.
Nick Paul had one good game.....so far.

Methot is developing a good reputation as a straight talking analyst. But, he takes special delight in knocking the Leafs. He predicted that the Leafs would find it hard to match Tampa's playoff toughness.

Ottawa would not give Nick Paul his UFA asking price of $3.5m. I believe they offered $2.5m. His price probably goes north of $4m if he continues his good post season play.

- spatso

No...no he isnt at all.

Would rather Bertuzzi

Also even if BOS trades Marchand...would they really trade him to Toronto?

If the script is flipped are we trading Marner to Boston?

I like you thinking outside the box but I don't think Dubas like his character enough to trade for him. Dubas is pretty big on the character of players.

This would never occur I get it, but.
Would you trade 2 years of willy for one year of JT miller?
You'd save 1.6m as well.

Oh it would never occur as well.
Bruins arent trading him to Toronto....but someone with his skill and playoff pedigree is what they need.

Rutherford says he wants to add some size and sandpaper. Not get weaker perimeter players.

Hence the "never would occur" part.
But its mainly from a leafs perspective if any fans would do it.

Did some math.

if you get Sandin and Lil at a combined 3.5M

Kase and Engvall at a combined 5M

Campbell at 3.5-4M

Gio at super cheap

trade Holl and Kerfoot

1st line with bunting
Engvall, Kampf, Käse 3rd line
mix of young guys, value contracts and Spezza on the 4th line

You trade Nylander for Bertuzzi or Miller and the Leafs would have around 5M walking into free agency with a 21 man roster with a stacked forward group class.

Palat?

Bunting-AM-Marner
Bertuzzi-JT-Palat
Engvall-Kampf-Kase
4th line

Rielly-Lil
Muzzin-Brodie
Gio-Sandin

Yeah the coin flip in a tight series can only be fixed if you blow up the team and start over and hope for a heavier one sided coin in 7 years.

HR… what a bunch of idiots.

I wonder why this is just a US/Canada thing. I mean a lot of other languages most of the words are actually assigned to be either masculine or feminine. Can you imagine the uproar here having words like kitchen or dress being officially defined as feminine?

Leafs need to

1) Flush the 4th line and replace with some size and skating ability
2) Try to sign Forsberg
3) Trade Nylander
4) Trade Holl
5) Trade Bunting (His value is as high as it will ever be)
6) Try to trade Marazek and pickup a good backup at the Deadline.
7) Move on from Campbell if they can't get him signed at a reasonable number.

I hate to break it to you but losing 3 of the last 4 games isn't a coin flip nor a tight series.
