Just listened to Marc Methot's hot takes on TSN about the Leafs.
Says we need a Nick Paul, says Engvall needs to play like he's 6'5", Nylander's gotta go... - gravyface

Ugh Nick Paul had 1 good game. He was going to be overpaid before that game. Now he will get more, stay away. - Santo_44

Methot is developing a good reputation as a straight talking analyst. But, he takes special delight in knocking the Leafs. He predicted that the Leafs would find it hard to match Tampa's playoff toughness.
Ottawa would not give Nick Paul his UFA asking price of $3.5m. I believe they offered $2.5m. His price probably goes north of $4m if he continues his good post season play.

If Bergeron retires, they certainly will take a big drop.

he is probably a nice guy, but he is just very biased and bad being a hockey analyst, or whatever he is trying to be

Dubas off season:
Sign Husso
Trade Robertson for Gurianov
Dump Mrazek
Trade Nylander/Muzzin for Provorov/Konecny
Let Kase, Mikheyev, Giordano, Lyubushkin, Blackwell, Campbell and Engvall walk
Call up Knies and Niemela
Fire Keefe, sign Trotz - mr.sir
Doesn't have a contract and is also going back to school.
it would be pointless to do that until 23-24 season.

While he is definitely a POS, the biggest flaw in the NHL is not him, it is the way they have let him get away with poop.
You notice how a multiple time repeat offender appears to be immune to suspension now? Clearly what has happened is the next suspension would have to be huge given his past, so they just fine him and pretend the offense was not suspension-worthy.
The NHL has seriously lost all integrity. - Aetherial
That was kinda' what I meant - that they allow him to do what he does and show an unbelievably inconsistent way of dealing with his antics. They allow him to do it but he keeps doing it too so to me it's him & the NHL.

I know but would it be worth it?
Look at Abruzzese. He got what 10 games in a year waisted/burnt from his contract.
That's why I said 23-24 season, that way the Leafs can take full advantage of his contract

The carjacking of Marner’s Black Range Rover occurred in Etobicoke, Ont., just 10 minutes west of the Leafs’ Scotiabank Arena, around 7:46 p.m.

Yeah, the Leafs need draft picks. The core is already past their prime.. Matthews is what 24 now and dealing with knee and groin problems.. - PatC80
Habs have so many picks, I'm sure we'd be able to send you about 10 of them for Matthews.

Even if it made the diff between Cup / no Cup?
Winning changes ppls perspective a lot more than some would admit.

Ok deal, but you need to add in that 7th rounder in 2025 for Nylander as well. |

First of all burning a year means a cheaper contract out of their ELC's.
2nd Knies is a lot better than Abruzzesse.
And it was good to get him into games anyways.
Also I do not want to waste any time not giving him a contract. Remember he can wait a few years and sign elsewhere. |
