This ain’t about the refs. Pens blew 5 leads to close out the series. Dunno why that’s so hard for Pens fans to comprehend. They didn’t deserve to win blowing those leads. - j.boyd919
The reffing was sh!t both ways at times. Rangers special teams were better overall and major reason why they won the series. They couldnt beat the Pens 5 on 5. |

Yes, trouba did not elbow guentzel in the back of the head, he didn't chicken wing Crosby, and didnt have a 4 min.higj stick...what an ass clown!!! - PENS1989
Got called on both the Gentzel and 4 min high stick though right? Trouba must’ve pulled the ole’ chicken wing intentional elbow that no one outside of the pens fan base thought was intentional. |

I was one of the ones that said it happened so fast that Im not sure there was intent at all..but the damning thing for Trouba that night was the he came out elbows first in opening minute on Pens players.
Not that Malkin hasn't done dirty stuff before, but Rooney totally sold that and majorly embellished. I dont think Malkin even touched his face. I watched only one angle of it around 50 times and it wasnt what you're saying it was. If there is a different angle that shows that he actually got Rooney in the face there I'd love to see it. Malkin just came off a 4 game suspension for something similar....you telling me the Rangers wouldn't be reaching out to the league about this or the league wouldnt look into that on their own if there was actually anything to it? - MattStrat
The cross check got him on the side of his face. My point is the INTENT is WAY worse on cross checking someone in the face (or attempting to) than what happened between Trouba and Crosby. I firmly believe there was zero intent to injure on Trouba’s play and 100% believe the only reason u cross check someone in the face is to injure them, it’s not a hockey play. U said it yourself he was just suspended 4 games for the same exact thing. Difference on the suspension one and the Rooney one is the injury, but the intent is the same on both. |

It was a shove, kinda like what Erod was penalized for, and kicked started the Pens demise, in game 6 ...difference being Rooney made it look like was shot with a 44 caliber point blank.

MAF is not coming back unless Sully is canned. Sully benched MAF the 1st chance he had. No way MAF plays for him again.
If Malkin can get signed under 7 great. I think he can get 8+ on the market easy.
I think you only let Letang walk if you have a plan B. Dumo is not plan B.
Rust....meh....under 5 keep him, if not buh bye.
I didnt watch much of the end of the season so Rakell is a bit unknown to me but if hes an upgrade over Rust I say keep him. Rust has been super streaky.

Nah MacKinnon's gonna win the Cup in Colorado this year and/or next year... he will then be signing a deal with Pittsburgh to play with his buddy, Sid. |

Hey is +6 better than -6?
Either way you do you. Die on that hill. - Feds91Stammer
I thought plus minus was a dumb stat? Or did that change? I know facilitating goals in a game 7 is important to a win though. |

Goal differential at 5v5 is different than plus minus.

I think your plan B at this time is Marino. I brought up the Golden Knights before, but I think they’re a team who will be dumping a few decent contracts due to their salary cap. If the pens lose letang, maybe they go after Shea Theodore. |

So who are the realistic replacements for Letang? Mind you, none will replace what he does, but who are realistic attainable targets?
Klingberg is probably the best available, but my guess is other teams will go much higher than the Pens would/should pay.
Giordano? I’m sure he’s affordable, but can he have the right kind of impact at his age?
Burns? I could see SJ retaining some money on him.
Again, I’m not saying I love these choices. Just pointing out who the could be available for the Pens.
Losing Letang would be the death blow. |

True, Vegas could do that. I dont have the time to follow the NHL much and even the Pens I just check in and out of at this point. So I have no real clue who the Pens could/should go after at this point. I just think they need to get younger and Malkin needs more support to be effective. If he wants too much $$$ you cant surround him with talent. |

The very team you mentioned, Tampa who was a great team lost in the first round. I agree that the Pens aren't a great team. Neither are the Rangers. They really had no business winning this series but funny things happen in a short sample. - MJL

on the Fan, Rob Rossi reported that a while back front office offered both malkin and letang the same 3yr @ 5 mil avg per yr. Contract.. Crosby wasn't happy about it he wants malkin back... Also, Crosby wanted to come back in game 6 after passing concussion protocol but hextall nixed it.... Rossi believes.both burke and hextall are gone, especially Burle... |
