Zadorov is a UFA next season and I don’t think there’s a way for the Flames to sign him. He started slowly but has really come on since the allstar break.

Looking forward to the “Battle of Alberta”….for some reason? Probably just memories from the 80’s. I think I read they had five series back then and Calgary only beat them once, in 1986. As I’ve also said, if it wasn’t for the others I think the Flames would have three Stanley cups.

No major changes A piece here, piece there.
- manvanfan

I guess it depends on how you define major changes. For instance, if they only make one trade, but that trade is Miller is that a major change?

Or if they keep Miller, but trade Poolman, Richardson, Myers, Garland, Boeser, Höglander and some AHL guys would that be major? Nothing significant on their own on this list, but it’s a lot of change for one off season.

I think the team will look pretty different next year, which will be the bazillionth year in a row with significant player changes.

I'm good with that. I just don't think it's gonna be close. I also think Makita is the only guy I've seen so far on the other thread that has the Oilers over the Flames. Maybe time for you boys to put your differences aside and dust off the blue and orange pom poms for a series.

Not sure if you're into Hip Hop but I got a copy of Fugees - The Score on vinyl this weekend. One of my faves. Gonna break it open right now.

Two flights a hotel room and two tickets to the game in Florida are cheaper than a pair of tickets to the battle of Alberta.

I agree, which is why the “tinkering around the edges crowd” should come to grips with the fact that to do any of the things they are talking about, a pretty major change is going to be needed.

I think major would have to fall under Miller and Myers going and not just a bunch of plugs.

Van's bottom 6 wasn't very good this past season as usual. There is probably 5 or 6 forward spots up for grabs. I don't call that real change, most bottom 6 are pretty interchangeable every year with some other plug that's brought in.

Myers isn't going anywhere for the time being. You don't create a hole on the right side when there's already a huge one that needs filling.

The Vancouver Canucks president of hockey operations has been brutally honest assessing his team since the season ended.

That continued on Monday in a conversation with Frank Seravalli and Jason Gregor on the DFO Rundown, as Rutherford outlined some specific things his team is looking to add this offseason.

Rutherford reiterated that the Canucks relied on spectacular goaltending from Thatcher Demko on too many nights, and spoke about the need for more structure in the play in front of him. The Hall of Fame executive also spoke about the need to shed salary and get younger, while admitting that his team needs more “sandpaper.”

It doesn't sound as if Rutherford and Co. are too worried about that. With rumour of OEL going to the right side more next season.

I hear the front office really likes OEL also.

This is being so far blown out of proportion now it seems

They could have given up say 10 less goals and go from 25 to 15th

The Canucks have had several terrible general managers throughout its 52 years, he’s certainly number 1-2-3 on that list

Exactly, how do you expect them to hire a third zamboni driver in this economy? Myers spends so much time flailing around on the ice he practically cleans the thing himself.

If there were good UFA options at RHD this year I could seem them easily getting rid of Myers. But it'd be hard with no one to bring in. OEL to the right is an idea, but that's a hole on the left that's opened up. Thanks Benning.

Had season tickets back then when those battles were going on, was epic! Was also at the Allstar game in Calgary where that smug Sather filled out the Campbell roster with Oiler players Fans booing the home team continually, there’s a lot of old hate that the new fans know nothing about.

People female doging about the current prospect pool yet Gustav Forsling will be better than any Gillis pick except for Horvat.

A 5th round pick

You could probably go back to 2004 when Edler was drafted to find a better player drafted by a Canuck GM better than Forsling.

I know you will go blah blah, he missed on two high firsts and others Canucks GM's didn't pick as high. Lockwood and his 15 NHL games now is 3rd behind Connauton and Raymond for 2nd and 3rd round Canucks picks from 05-13

This hopefully goes 7 with lots of bad blood and physicality that borders on cheap shots. And I couldn't care which teams comes out on top as long as they're limping into the next series.
