engvall and mik also super disappointing.. - senstroll
Yep, ship them too for all I care.
Marner and Nylander zero shots on net in a game 7 - ship those little turds too. 😑 |

Soup sucked, game 6 2 goals right through his Swiss cheese frame.
Move on and get a starter.

To me this is the core of the problem with your argument - they absolutely did NOT lose in the "exact same way".
They did not blow a 3 games to 1 lead, they did not get shut out in a game 7 or blown away and were never in the game and their best players did not disappear for the better part of an entire playoff series.
If you acknowledge these things are all true then you can't possibly see it as losing in the 'exact same way'.
The only thing that is the exact same is that they lost in 7 games. - Cush29
Their powerplay in the past 5 years of closeout games is 0 for 18. It killed them. Again.
They did not get a big save in game 6 or 7 when they needed one. (Cirelli goal in gm 6, one of Nick Paul's goals in gm 7).
Their bottom six got OWNED. Again.
When presented with chances to win/closeout - they found ways to lose instead.
It's the same, and you cannot admit.
Don't listen to me anyway. Maybe you'll listen to Friedman when he says change is coming/needed. |

Gio at a lower number? Sure!
I don't think there's a Kawhi option for Dubas, unfortunately... - SofaKingBored
I don't think he was making a direct comparison.
I don't think Dubas is adding a superstar.
Some things I could see are Bertuzzi, Hornet, Miller as 1 year guys.
Schiefeli? Possible but not the type I think Dubas is going to go after.
Does he go out and get someone out of left field that nobody sees coming? Thats my guess and I think that's what he meant by "Kawhi" |

The Kawhi option is essentially trading Nylander.. In my opinion, DeRozan = Nylander. I'm not sure if trading him, puts them over the top.. Heck, I don't even know what they would get in return |

You're not wrong there - ideally you want that guy who plows to the net with the puck and can put in (like Jamie Benn), but those guys are few and far between - but having a guy who can drive to the net and lose the puck in the process, but create room - like Kassian for instance or Maroon or more hurtfully Nick Paul - they will not get the job done most of the time, but they can create a swath of wreckage where skilled guys can possibly clean up the garbage.
Hyman wasn't that guy either. Last year he didn't penetrate the Montreal cross-check storm. The year before he wasn't effective against the Jackets' collapse and hack defense either. In fact this year's 2 goal 2 assist performance in 7 games is his best playoff performance to date. I like Zach Hyman, so there's no disrespect intended, just noting that he's not as much as we wanted him to be, but he was more than we had, so he gets remembered as a bit more.
I don't think Knies would be ready yet, but that's the archetype we need. - Monkeypunk
Yeah, Knies is playing another year in the NCAA.
I have faith that Dubas can find some more depth gems; he's been remarkable at it to be honest.
But I do think we shrunk a bit this year and that hurt us in the end. Hopefully there is another gem out there with some size who can play up and down the lineup on the wing. |

Basically it’s Dubas making a Hail Mary attempt to win it or he’s out. It’ll be extremely tough with the cap situation. I personally don’t see any big move possible other than Willy getting traded. We shall see. |

The team in front of him had way more to do with that than Gibson.

so goalie, bottom 6 and powerplay
which I think all are going to be changed ...significantly in the off season.
sounds like exactly what you are asking for

Lil 1.8 1.2
Sandin 2 1.2
Boosh 1.5 ✔
Engvall 2 1.75 ish
Traded Holl and Kase for picks. Mrazek gone.
4M cap goalie.
Full roster Leafs have just under 1M.
Can get a Kerfoot replacement for 4.5M or can create space by getting a cheaper Boosh for the bottom pair. - Santo_44
how long are those deals for?
in bold are my guess. RFA with no arbitration right will not get a huge raise with the cap the way it is.

I disagree.
They have been staying with the process.
Heavy rumours they wanted a top6 with jam last season.
They have their own 1st this and next season. Kerfoot coming off a high season. Teams like VAN and PHI have their own reasons to shed some quality players. Looks like it will be easier to do...and Dubas is more willing. |

I've listened to you as have others, you keep spouting the same tiresome thing despite people pointing out why things are not exactly the same which is what you said.
You are right, I don't have to listen to you but I do have to keep reading you saying it over and over again as do others. So as annoyed as you may be with me "not admitting it" (because in my opinion your wrong so why would I?) just know others including me feel the exact same way about your opinion.
To say the Leafs didn't get a big save in game 6 and 7 is pretty "WTF" to me, I saw several HUGE saves by Campbell but again my opinion.
I have no doubt change is coming, it comes every off season but I also think there is more change that will happen in Toronto due to the salary cap complications and considerations vs there being a believe by management that the team is severely flawed.
The fact other teams coaches, players, management and media is saying the Leafs should not blow it up kinda' validates that - at least to me.
The good news for you is change is coming regardless, I hope whatever they do makes them better and they have more success which is what we all want (I think?).

Perhaps but I don't see Lilly being top pairing in his first full season as an NHL'r.
And no Boosh? - Cush29
His game 7 usage tells you what Keefe thinks of him, I'd have to imagine. 3 shifts... ouch.

its a 1M raise it really isnt huge at all.
Friedman said around 2M. I am sure he has heard internal talks about their contracts. Its best to prepare for it because its unlikely they get either of them to agree to 300K raises. Especially if its for more than a year. |
