Hopefully new ownership will be aggressive. I’d still welcome a different GM. I don’t think Hextall was bad, but he was the polar opposite of JR. The Pens needed someone in between the two.

The new ownership is pretty much the opposite of Rutherford. Every move has a purpose. They arent going to make moves to make moves, they will have a structured plan. They run a lot based on analytics. Which is why I dont think they will panic and make stupid moves. They will realize the analytics are saying this team was fine and just ran into some bad luck with injuries.

Plus you have owners with much deeper pockets. I say you add an extra year onto each of Letang and Malkin's contract to lower the cap hit, front load it as much as possible, and then you can easily buy it out or trade the contracts if they dont play that final year.

I feel like from an ownership and financial perspective, we are in much better shape that we would've been under Burkle/Lemieux as majority owners.

Right now, CapFriendly is saying we have $28.3M in cap space. Trade Dumo and McGinn and that's $35.15M.

-$6.5M - Malkin
-$8.5M - Letang
-$7M - Trocheck
-$4.5M - Rakell
-$2M - Heinen
-$900K - Nylander
-$1.25M - Backup goalie

Jake-Crosby-Rakell
Malkin-Trocheck-Heinen
Zucker-Carter-Nylander
O'Connor-Blueger-Zohorna

Matheson-Letang
Pettersson-Marino
Friedman/POJ-Ruhwedal

Jarry
Back-up

This roster would still have $5.75M in salary cap. You could easily choose not to resign Heinen and have $7M to go after a talented second line winger.

No. He fixated on the wrong needs and got tunnel vision.

What did you expect from Jarry though after a month off from an injury going into game 7 where nut’s big guns are starting to heat up.
