We weren’t conservative. We put shot the (frank) out of them. The refs decided 3 games in a row. - sextoymagic
You mean by giving Pens a goal on a high stick???? |

Reverse psychology - hfc355
That doesn't make sense. A lot of what you've said the past few days doesn't make sense and you can't even spell tonight right. You're definitely not paying with a full deck. There'll be no more interacting with you, you're a waste of time and energy. |

Series would have been over already if Refs didnt incorrectly call back the Chytil goal in game 1...and that high stick goal by Guentzel tonite. Pens got all the calls all series. - hfc355
In all seriousness, why are you still here? You won. Go celebrate on your own board. We dont want to hear it.
We can play the "if that play had gone our way" card all night. No one wants to and would rather you just take the win and move on. |

Dumo traded
Rust probably too expensive
Probably stuck with Zucker
ERod maybe prices himself out
Kapanen gone (not qualified)
Can't pay Malkin more than 7.5
Letang 5 years 45 million TOPS
Need a better/reliable backup goalie
Need Depth
Need a scorer to replace Rust
All this and we probably still aren't a true contender - TheGame316
Letang malkin rust leave. Bring in klingberg and forsberg. Please. |

That may have been a legitimate penalty against McGinn but my guess is that the refs rarely call that against most teams in that situation. In the regular season? Sure. In the playoffs? Maybe, but usually not. In Game 7 OT? Come on.
Still, McGinn got beat on that play. And it is not like D'andre Miller is a high power forward. It probably would have been worth the penalty shot against by pulling him down earlier or even to let him go and trusting Jarry to stop the shot. Oh well.
I don't think I will be able to watch any more of the playoffs. For Crosby to get elbowed in the head (even if it was by a "chicken wing") and it not only to not be called but the league to brush it off like it was nothing is sickening. |

It's more sickening watch the team blow back-to-back 2-0 leads in elimination games. Metnally the team isn't there and this type of series gives new ownership plenty of reason to clean house. |

I don't think the Penguins will "rebuild"
I think they'll keep "building" around the core Putting up 100 point seasons and butts in the seats, until Sid is done, (which may be 5 more years) then it's blow up time
The thing is, even if they thread the needle perfectly, The Penguins won't be a top team, a true contender anymore. I guess that's fine
Even if they won this series, I wouldn't favour them over Carolina, Florida, or Tampa, and certainly not Colorado if they come out of the west
I would have still enjoyed the ride though |

I’ve just watch 3 incredibly painful game in row. All of which go back to district ref (frank) ups that changes the game. I’m over hockey for the year also. The third team on the ice decides game just as much as the teams actually playing. This is the most tainted and flawed series I’ve ever watched. |

There were still a few good things that came out of this, but mainly the play of Pettersson-Marino.
I am still insanely worried about a Matheson-Letang top pairing, but if you can find someone to take Dumo... your top 4 could be set with Dumos money coming off the books. |

I think in the regular season that's a penalty shot, Ref's did a favour calling it a minor, but it was definitely a penalty. That's the risk you take when a forward is covering the point

Talk about a kick in the Richard on that one. We were definitely the better team in that series I think, however it will be interesting to see what the off season brings us.
Good for you New York in the rest of the playoffs, well played |

I think the biggest change that Hextall needs to make, which will probably take a long time, is to make the team bigger. The Pens have lost an incredible number of man-games to injuries over the years and a lot of the reason for that is that they are smaller than many other teams. As much as I hate them a team like the Capitals is injured less in part because they are so huge. |

I really liked Matheson/Letang pairing. It isn't shutdown, but Dumo was a black hole of offense on his side.

Complete Bullpoop.
Penguins were better team throughout series.
But there is No excuse to blow leads in 3 straight games. NO KILLER INSTINCT
Typical Rangers had to resort to cheap shot Crosby to win series.
No cheap shot hit, Pens win in 5. Just sickening. Not to mention cheap hit on Rakell. How's that affect series.
ESPN gets what it wants. Garage League. NBA promotes its stars, NHL promotes big market teams.
some changes are needed, others will be forced by free agency. Just hope we dont become Philly West because of a knee jerk reaction to this abomination |

I would've preferred a penalty shot, and not just because they scored on the powerplay. If you get beat on a penalty shot by Miller... a big defenseman (who I really like)... then that's a sign it wasnt your year.
Other than it being OT, i dont know why he didnt call it a penalty shot. McGinn clearly prevented him from getting a shot off. |

Nah. Can’t blame the refs. Pens carried the play most of the series but made peewee level mental lapses. |

The goal this offseason should be Trocheck. The Penguins need a 2C. I love Malkin, but he aint it 5 on 5. Put him at LW and he will flourish.
Jake-Crosby-Rakell
Malkin-Trocheck-TBD
The other goal should be dumping Dumo. Hard to believe he was the most valuable piece in that Staal deal, especially when it looked like he was a throw in. But he just cant play in this system. I think you'll find a team to take him.
You need to find some bottom 6 guys who arent completely useless when they arent scoring. That applies to Cater and Kapanen. You're stuck with Carter, but I dont want Kapanen back unless he is back at an insanely good price. |

Need to sign some smart players.
I'd like to Keep Rust for 7 million if we could find a taker for Zucker
Rackell, ERod and Heinen stay with Dumo and Kapanen leaving
Malkin on a 3 year 21 million and Letang on a 5 year 45 million?

This series is the reverse of the 2017 Penguins-Capitals series. The Caps badly outplayed us and we managed to win anyways. |

If they trade Dumoulin and Zucker at 50% retained on each, they have $33M to fill out 10 roster spots. They could do a lot with that, especially if they choose to not resign one of Malkin or Letang. |

Definitely. Jarry isn't the greatest in shootouts/penalty shots but aside from perhaps Fox I would trust him to stop any one of their defenseman on a penalty shot. Miller is a great defenseman whom I would love to have on my team but he is not a high powered forward. The refs did the NYR a favor by calling it a 2 minute minor. |

If you can’t afford good wingers for Malkin there’s no sense in keeping him. |
