Toronto comes close to maybe score a goal after the buzzer on game 7.

I just thought the fact the puck was sent towards him and he kinda wacks it upwards could have been counted as a deviation more than considering himself as sending it over the boards.
- Scabeh

nope. doesn't matter. its a rule that needs tweaking but the downside would asking refs to make a judgment call. we all know how that would work

Agreed, it's much better to never count on their judgement at all.

i call it the chelios rule. players did it but chelios would do it 3-4 times a game.

nope. its automatic. intent doesn't matter for the DOG penalty.

Hell, hawks were on the PK a few year back during the playoffs and kruger went to clear the zone and airmailed it over the glass behind the opposing goal.

I know that defenders were deliberately sending the puck in the standings before, but it's a bit ridiculous that this and Giordano's situations become penalties.

On the other side of the coin they have a split second to make a decision ... the game is going at 100 mp/h. As TV watchers, we get the benefit of an overhead angle and replays.

In the 70's, fans came to the rink wearing helmets.
You had to be on your toes and pay attention if you were sitting behind the net.

They just showed him on TV.

Looks like he'll be sitting on the bench more than playing.
