Dubas… gone. Can’t win with this core, he was wrong.
Willy need to be traded for a good DMan.
Holl, Mrazek, Kerplunk and Muzzin needs to go.
Try and sign Gio and Boosh cheap.
Try and sign Mikheyev and Engvall cheap.
Get a few tougher forwards.
Get a good goalie.

As for Matthews, I think it would take a HUGE offer to move him.

- .HOHO.

Mathews wasn't the problem, it's the diaper wearing Leaf players that are the problem.

I feel for leaf players and fans. To play Tampa in the first round is crazy. The east is stacked. I’ve never liked that team, but this one is likeable . As hard as it is to take, this leaf team is really good. Just happens that all of the teams in the east are really good.

Don’t think of it as an insult, think of it as accurately portraying you as the guy that comes in here after a big loss saying “you told us all”.

Like the douchebag you are. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Matthews leads all players in hits for a 3rd playoff game in a row, as well as being the top goal scorer in the NHL

Because he wants to have his I was right moment, acting like he knew all along that the leafs would run into a team who might be on their way to winning their third cup in a row and barely lose.

Because that somehow proves he's a genius and that they need to trade their 24 year old franchise player, anoint Woll the starting goalie, and fire the entire management / coaching group who just produced the best season in team history. Then and only then will this never happen again.

In other words, that he's not even a leaf fan. He's just a useless troll trying to have a boner moment off of the leafs misery.

The whole team played well.

The team and fans deserved more than the result.

This not the same as previous seasons, the result is the same.

Results are what matters but in terms of evaluation and creating the best opportunity to get better results next year is to not make any massive changes.

Some work to do for sure but they instilled a lot of belief into me in that series.

It sucks, its very leafy that we as fans watch our team put up an incredible season and played TB who just won their 10th series in a row so evenly that in the end it was a coin flip where the leafs ended up on the wrong end.

FFS. If one drunken comment burns a bridge built by a long history of informed and rational hockey discussion, then that's on you. I'm sorry you feel that way. I see a lot of insults tossed towards the Lightning in this forum and I don't take them personally. Heck, I agree with most of them.

Nick Paul did indeed own the Leafs last night. Although, I will admit that the refs won the last two games. That Holl pick was technically a penalty, but they never call that poop. That beauty Tavares goal should have counted. Your beef should be with the officials who presented this series to the Bolts on a silver platter.

Irrelevant right now.

Plenty of growth as a person and a player in a few years, absolutely no one including Matthews can predict what will happen.

So who cares right now.

Just curious...what makes you think this team could get it done next year with no major changes? Law of averages?

He got the most goals in the NHL every season under a guy who in your demented world view would punish him for scoring goals...sooooooooooo? Wtf are you talking about?

After a loss like this people overreact. But to even suggest they trade Matthews is ridiculous. Do you really want to trade a guy who could very well end up being a top 3 best goal scorer ever? He could end up being the best. Do you want to be the team that sees his number on a different sweater in the hall? Matthews isn’t the problem, he’s the answer.

100% correct. The CDN teams face this every year from Gary's boys. EDM got around the 'timely calls' in GM 6 but TO couldn't rebound after that horrible GM 6 call in the 3rd period against them that put Tampa back in the series. Not saying it was an outright factor and TO is good enough where they should be able to play around the refs bad call but still...Sucks that every year you have that to deal with as well as winning the games. People who don't acknowledge the 'timely' calls and influences by Gary's boys are just sheer idiots. I didn't see the Tavares goal that was disallowed...should it have counted?

Will be interesting to see how the refs play out vs CGY tonight.

- LordHumungous

tough to say about the goal.
There was a pick with almost zero body contact. I think the problem most people have is not whether it was a penalty (debatable) but whether or not it should have been called, at that point in the game, under those circumstances, when so much worse had been let go on both sides. The refs set a standard, and then for one moment in the Leafs offensive zone they decide to call the game by the absolute letter of the rule book.

If that was the standard of calls, then both teams should have literally been shorthanded all game.

You are dead on about Canadian teams. Vancouver started this when they were completely shafted against Boston. From a Leafs fan perspective, it seems like the supplementary discipline, the number of penalties and the timing of penalties are not going their way for years now.

Because of the series they just played against the back to back champs.

They played them so evenly that a bounce, a single good/bad play, a missed/weak call decides that series. They gave themselves an excellent chance to win against the best team in the league the last few seasons.

Last year they beat themselves sure, this year they proved that operating from emotion would be silly. Seems to be the general vibe from most Leaf fans as well.

100% feels different, the results feel the same...but to get the ultimate prize its pretty simple for me that making any massive changes for the sake of it would be dumb. This is a different team than the ones that faced Boston, MTL and Columbus.

The only reason you trade Matthews is if he will not re-sign.

You cannot let him get to the final year of that contract unsigned when he has a no-movement clause.

This is exactly what I expect the Leafs to do.

There are a few fans operating from emotion.

But reading around and talking to people, Leaf fans feel different about this loss. Don't think there are many who want the core broken up.

Was much much different after the MTL series.

A suggestion to trade Matthews is the best way to tell that a person is nothing but a troll looking for attention. No genuine fan of a team who ever wants to see them actually succeed would ever even consider suggesting trading a player like him.
