True...it's not like Ovechkin won 4 straight Rocket Trophies in all 4 of Trotz' seasons as coach.

The Player I am mostly disappointed about, Tavares, for 11M, he was impactful for one game, not enough from your captain and his 11M cap hit…but he won face offs.

Joel as always has 0 clue.

You really think limping past the Kings is a bragging point? Hyman is taking the oilers nowhere. Literally every time you post here you bring a scientific experiment proving that you don't have a single solitary clue about anything, you are a complete and utter waste of bandwidth. There's a reason you're the biggest running joke on this site.

Yeah Marner was fine. I think if you're really looking to make a big move you listen on Tavares, just because he's not *quite* living up to that deal and is probably going to get worse in the near future, so sell if you can.

But overall there aren't a ton of moves to be made, cap is what it is at this point.

FFS. If one drunken comment burns a bridge built by a long history of informed and rational hockey discussion, then that's on you. I'm sorry you feel that way. I see a lot of insults tossed towards the Lightning in this forum and I don't take them personally. Heck, I agree with most of them.

Nick Paul did indeed own the Leafs last night. Although, I will admit that the refs won the last two games. That Holl pick was technically a penalty, but they never call that poop. That beauty Tavares goal should have counted. Your beef should be with the officials who presented this series to the Bolts on a silver platter.

- GalacticStone

Down Goes Brown had a good tweet basically saying you need breaks and calls by the refs can be good or bad breaks.

Yes, that was a pick, although it really does look like Holl tries to get out of the way. Also, it is an extremely rare penalty called, probably happens every game multiple times. Let's look at the circumstances.

Extremely rare penalty to ever call. The contact was very marginal, almost none at all. Game 7, team called is down a goal. Stuff being let go all over the ice, then THAT gets called.

This, on the heels of an out and out blown call costing the Leafs the tying goal in game 6, and a ref watching Killorn grabbing Matthews sweater for like 3 seconds and deciding not to call that.

I get that trolls gonna troll, but anyone who thinks they wouldn't feel like the refs influenced the series if it was their team, is just a (frank)ing liar.

Bottom line, Tampa got some pretty big breaks from the refs, and the Leafs got none and this poop happens every year.

I don't think you can hang this on individual players. To me, this is a matter of experience. Everyone actually showed up and that's rare for us. They lost this series to a team who just knows how to find that extra gear and lay it all on the line when it counts, and they know because they've been doing it for years.

The leafs brought in age experience but not know what it takes to go deep into the playoffs and win the cup experience.

Their core continues to grow but they need to be surrounded with some playoff established players. Even a team as good as Florida was this year brought in Giroux who hasn't done squat in the playoffs either, let's see where that gets them vs Tampa.

Every team in the league uses those same picks every game. The Lightning use them a lot, especially when they are wheeling around in the offensive zone. And the refs almost never call those picks, especially borderline ones like Holl.

Killorn waterskiing on Matthews was soooo blatant. That was far more worthy of a call than the Holl pick.

I have no answer for the refs. Honestly, I don't think the Bolts were the better team in this series, even though they advanced. The officials were inconsistent again and decided it for themselves.

I haven't said a thing about the refs, maxi pad. Your dumb takes on the leafs carry over to the dumb things you say about other people, they just don't make sense. You're not even a fan of this team, (frank) off somewhere else.

During the intermission you have Ron and his gang saying…..yep, that’s a pic by Holl, definitely deserved a penalty!! Then during the Oiler game the same gang of brain cramps is saying…..nice pic by the oilers on that goal.

100% correct. The CDN teams face this every year from Gary's boys. EDM got around the 'timely calls' in GM 6 but TO couldn't rebound after that horrible GM 6 call in the 3rd period against them that put Tampa back in the series. Not saying it was an outright factor and TO is good enough where they should be able to play around the refs bad call but still...Sucks that every year you have that to deal with as well as winning the games. People who don't acknowledge the 'timely' calls and influences by Gary's boys are just sheer idiots. I didn't see the Tavares goal that was disallowed...should it have counted?

Will be interesting to see how the refs play out vs CGY tonight.

Dubas… gone. Can’t win with this core, he was wrong.
Willy needs to be traded for a good DMan.
Holl, Mrazek, Kerplunk and Muzzin needs to go.
Try and sign Gio and Boosh cheap.
Try and sign Mikheyev and Engvall cheap.
Get a few tougher forwards.
Get a good goalie.

As for Matthews, I think it would take a HUGE offer to move him.
