And that has to change. They have to be able to challenge penalties when the stakes are this high. This bullpoop can't go on, it's the only way to even the playing field.

I think you should get one free challenge / game, and then institute that rule after.

In the Edmonton game yesterday, Hyman is pushed into Quick just as Kane scores. The ref waved it off as interference - and the Oiler coach was reluctant to challenge, ostensibly because they were already up 2-0 and he likely didn't want to risk the penalty - because with goaltender interference: who f'n knows? If they had one free challenge, I guarantee they would have used it, and been up 3-0.

It makes Ek look even worse. Tampa is the defending champ, they deserve to have a full-time blogger, especially during the playoffs.

yeah games 1-2 were toronto so that's where i made the mistake

I'm on the fence about this.

I really do agree that making the right call should be prioritize because too much is on the line for too many people to have mistakes ruin it.

On the other hand, you just know if there's no downside to a challenge, we'll see them every game for every possible debatable scenario and I'm not sure we want that.

I think the current system works well enough, I'd just expand it to being able to challenge anything, even penalties.

Oh and make the Refs available to the media after, to make them accountable as well. They are part of the game and they should be until the end.
