Ummm…… She is Hextall's cousin, not his daughter.

Shhh. Just let the joke be moderately funny - xShoot4WarAmpsx
The moderately funny joke would be if she was both his cousin and his daughter. |

Have you attended the Greek festival there? The gelatopoureko (Greek custard like dessert) is decent, as is the avgolemeno (traditional chicken soup with lemon). - PT21
I can’t say I have, but I certainly am partial to Greek food. Just about all Mediterranean cuisines, for that matter. My favorite place here in D.C. was this small Turkish place who worked magic with lamb, plums, and red wine. Stupid Covid wiped it out.
I find myself visiting friends out in Reading probably twice a year now. |

definitely this. hes a big time homer but he is a good announcer.
and before i get jumped on, yes i know the pens announcers are ridiculously homerish too, albeit without the good. i guess the guy who replaced steigerwald is okay enough, hes knowledgeable enough but is a stiff. errey is painful. - stayinthefnnet
I dont agree. He might get more excited when the Flyers get chances or score but hes never biased for the Flyers. He calls the game, gives credit to the opposing team when they deserve it.
Wasnt Jackson one of the guys ripping the Flyers with Jonesy with the hot mic?

Bill Meltzer: Quick Hits: Sanheim, Reading Royals, Desnoyers, TIFH, Ashbee - bmeltzer
I love the game Sanheim was able to put together this season but when you are a first time Barry Ashbee trophy winner and won any “most improved” trophy the season before, you were never better than Provorov all along. With this said, we need Provorov and Sanheim both to be our one-two punch on the back end and I’m hoping for that.
I’m hoping Toronto can put Tampa away tonight. If they don’t, they’re not winning game 7. Also I really love watching Calgary play, they really want it this season.

Eichel isnt far away at 408. Playing on Buffalo does that. Worse Dmen than Ristolainen have played playoff games. It isnt strictly on him
Eichel actually looks worse because he went to a team in a playoff position and they dropped out with him on the team. Ristolainen just went from one poop team to another - xShoot4WarAmpsx
Absolutely. I'd much rather have Ristolainen on my roster over Eichel. Do you actually believe this stuff you say?

Braun was brought in as a depth D. He wasnt brought in to be an upgrade. He is still a 3rd pair D. Dont know why Braun being on the 1st pair has anything to do with anything, he wasnt there because thats his role, he was there because he was the piece of duct tap used to cover the hole. - xShoot4WarAmpsx
it shows how poorly constructed the Flyers are. And how far away they are from competing.

his actual ability to call a game and mix in occasional banter is pretty good. and i admit i like his voice for it. but that sort of stuff is annoying and you can set your watch to it with him. |

Personally I don’t have the same issues with Ristolainen as some of you do. His career plus/minus is clearly a mess and doesn’t always make the best decisions with and without the puck but I do feel he offers a physical element we were missing and his career high in points is actually higher than both Provorov’s and Ellis. I mean there’s something positive in his game he could offer. I know it’s in there somewhere.
It was suggested that Sanheim is the only defenseman on the roster who could handle Risto as a partner. I’m not against trying Risto as Provorov’s partner. The Flyers have to do more than make the same approach every night. The power play rarely changed. The defensive pairs rarely changed. The whole season was really a waste of everyone’s time.

I dont mind jackson but these last two years he's been a shill as opposed to being frank about the team. He's been around long enough to leverage his credibility in a respectable way without the players or the organIzation being put off.....but he hasnt |

I read the dang post. All I was saying is that qualifications and merit often can only be determined after gaining some experience. To get that experience, someone has to break the status quo. And live with the learning costs.
The rap on black qbs used to be that they had happy feet, scrambled too quick out of the pocket, and couldn't read defences. I was with my dad at the LA Coliseum when Houston Oilers with Warren Moon visited and stunk it up. I think this was 84 or 85. it was a Raiders game, and a lot of the biker types were chanting seriously racist stuff to that effect. I was 15 and I couldn't believe what they were shouting.
For decades, the stereotype persisted. In the early 2000s I was at a protest here in Philly when Rush came here shortly after saying McNabb was overrated and that people don't dare criticize black qbs. Lot of the guys (not so much Moon, but Randall, Stewart, even early Donovan) did have a tendency to leave the pocket too quickly.
Now, we have guys like Mahomes and Wilson who have revolutionized the position. The gap is not quite eliminated but it is much closer to being gone and that stereotype is much lessened (though still there).
These female announcers are not going to remind you of Gene Hart from day 1. Just like you need to endure some bad years to have a decent chance to ice a good team, you have to take the long view.
Now, I have said the exact same thing 3 times, so y'all will have to excuse me.

Then you didn’t understand what he was trying to say.

Your first statement is completely false. You don't start at the top. You start in the lower leagues and earn your way up the ladder in most professions. You don't gain that experience to see if you're qualified and have merit by starting at a high level position.
No, as fans, we don't have to endure bad play by play or color to determine if it is indeed bad. That determination can be made immediately. - MJL

The only reason classic cable companies are still relevant is because old tired white peoples that resist change and progress. Yes I’m talking conservatives. I have several of these fine peoples family members that I routinely laugh at for paying $250 or more for cable/WiFi packages all the while female doging that prices continue to go up. Every once in awhile I try to explain to them other ways to lower cost. And also thank them for paying such high prices and providing me much laughter.
Comcast markets to them knowing until that generation dies off they’ll take in enough profits to be relevant. Same applies to old tired flyers.
They know what’s coming. They aren’t dumb. Hence gritty and other ploys to try to keep the gravy train going.
Change is inevitable. Progression is natural.
BOTH CAN BE PROLONGED.
So in your case wait til you see “the other shoe drop” and explore the wonderful world of illegal streaming and such. You’ll get there. 400 speed WiFi all cable stations and sports packages. Pay per view events. All movie channels plus theatre movies. $55 a month. So nice - Stayin alive
So , since I lean towards being conservative, Gritty takes my attention away from the Flyers being a Sh##y team ? Might be the dumbest thing ever posted here. |

Are you talking about on the Flyers or the Rangers? If you're talking about the Flyers, you're dead wrong. Fletcher gave up a 2nd and a 3rd for Braun and took dead money on the cap to bring in Braun. He was brought in to be a top 4 RH defenseman. |

Braun was bargain at 1.8 mil for what he did. But bringing him in to play top 4 was bad slotting. He played top 4 and even top pair effectively in SJ until shortly after he turned 30. Then they had a 3rd pair D at 3.8 mil. They were anxious to move him.

Forsling has been an absolute beast. Talk about a new age two Dman, constantly getting shots through. Up and down the ice but picks his spots very well - ClaudeFather
Why couldn't Fletch pick up somebody like that off waivers...
