My son hates her but I think she is trying too hard. Her enthusiasm sounds forced. I think she'll be OK once she gets settled in.

The Hextall lady can straight f@ck off.

That does seems very low to me.

In case this is useful to anyone: I got a 1gb connection here in downtown Philly. It's way more than I need (as I really only watch sports on tv and don't game) but if you bump down to the next lowest tier, 500mbps, then you pay more because you pay a rental fee for the modem (or buy one yourself) and the 300mbs is only $10 less after taxes. It starts at a $99 fee for the 1gb, which bumps down to 89 with autopay from bank, which bumps down to 84 with a promo discount, which bumps down to $64 if you add Verizon wireless for your cell, which I wanted to do anyway. You also get 1 year of disney, hulu and ESPN+ for free, and a Google Nest Hub Max and a SImplisafe security system and a $399 soundbar for $99, the last two of which I happily said no too.

The rather odd thing of all this was, my wife and I had modernish but nothing fancy phones (Iphone 12 mini bought refurbed and a Pixel 4a), but for bringing your own device to their cell plan, we each get $500 Verizon credit, for a total of $1000 to apply to our bills, provided we stay for 3 years.

ANother way of looking at this is, we got 16 months of 1gb Internet for $0 for swithing to Verizon wireless, something we were planning to do anyway.

And the speeds are legit.

Yes, 17 years from what I see. There is so much context missing from this conversation. Don’t miss understand me, my point is not about changing folks views on Leah Hextall but rather on women in broadcasting. Did anyone mention for example that without Leah Hextall there would be zero women doing play-by-play in the NHL playoffs? That she is the very first and only one to do so, and this year is her first opportunity. That she was also the first woman to ever do so on a live television broadcast for a NHL game and that was in 2020, only 2 years ago. This fact points to the larger issue.

https://stanforddaily.com...s-in-sports-broadcasting/

Change takes time. How long did we have to continue to listen Mike Milbury’s commentary? It is going to take time to develop prospective women announcers in a field where there were none. No one chooses to do something if there is no path forward for it. The “see it, be it” of all of this is very relevant. It is hard to even see any women in play-by-play coming up the ranks. They are few and far between. So I would say, I can manage to listen to just about anything if it allows the door to open even a crack for the first time.

Here is a young woman giving it a shot and showing a solid work ethic, passion and great attitude. Another first. Trailblazer. Find more.

That's my position on this too.

As for Han and Reiner, I just avoid them for now.

McNabb was overrated
- THE BLACK HAND

Kinda similar to Giroux. Had Stinkson and Trash as his WRs for much of his tenure. Had an overly venerated D coordinator whose D always failed to stop the run when it counted in the playoffs and a coach who just never managed to get the hang of...timeouts.

A good to very good player who was hoisted on a pedestal too early and lacked support.

Weegar hasn't been awful. He's actually be really solid. He just hasn't registered any points.

He’s had egregious turnovers that have directly led to goals, what have you been watching? Last night was one of his better games.

I quizzed them hard on that, and made them recite the list of fee increases over the past decade odd that have occurred in their plans. Nothing overly major. There is no contract btw. If you cancel, no termination fees, you just pay the balance of your credit, which seems fair enough.

Of course, with inflation providing both an excuse and a genuine need, I am forewarned. But for now, there is a lot of slack there to feed off.

For now, I am just delighted to be able to watch the playoffs with my wireless and not have the picture freeze or be 45 secs after my tv feed. Thoroughly enjoying the playoffs, and rather shocked at the # of goals we are seeing routinely.

He could always threaten to leave and go back to Comcast at that point to see if they would extend his offer. Than again, I'm just one of those "tired whities" who doesn't know any better.

Good for the Royals! I had the unfortunate experience of living up there at one point. I’d buy partial season ticket packages. Cheap as dirt. I remember Jonathan Quick’s cup of coffee with the team. He was pretty amazing.

There’s only three things worth saving in that town. The Royals, the Fightins, and the Northeast Taproom. Mmmm…and maybe the Rajah Theatre. 4. That’s 4 things.

The rest of Reading can and should pretty much burn.

West Reading/Sinking Spring might be salvageable.

Have you attended the Greek festival there? The gelatopoureko (Greek custard like dessert) is decent, as is the avgolemeno (traditional chicken soup with lemon).

I've been watching the games. I know the turnover that you're referring to. There are details on that play that you are missing.

Weegar is a +4. When he is on the ice. The Panthers CF% is 63.64%. SF% is 58.75%. GF% is 70%. XGF% is 55.8%. SCF% is 63.89%.

I know what I've been watching. It doesn't appear as though you do. Overall, Weegar has been pretty good.

When/if Fios comes to my neck of the woods I'll jump (already a VZW customer)

Verizon Home Internet services are not currently available at your address, but you can be among the first to know if they become available.

Till then, consider trying out TMobile 5G Home Internet. $50 a month, no contract, no data caps. Good coverage in Northern NJ (which I think is where you live...).

My view of you is that you have reserves of kindness, good heartedness and tact which I wish I possessed a fraction of, and that you are as barmy as a barn owl about some other stuff, such as that silly bet of ours 2 years ago, which you are going to lose in resounding fashion.

Thinking back, if I would have left it with just the image of Giroux hoisting the cup, my odds right now would be better. Damn it, Flyers.

I watch a fair amount of Rangers games living in their market, and Braun has been a healthy scratch quite often. From Flyers first pairing to press box.

Risto had the chance to get traded to a playoff team and show that his style of play would be extra effective in the postseason.

But he chose to take the guaranteed money and possibly never play a playoff game in his career.

- Feanor

Ristolainen has played 608 NHL games and never appeared in a playoff game. Is that the longest active streak in the league?

Just the player you want on your team. Unreal.

Braun was brought in as a depth D. He wasnt brought in to be an upgrade. He is still a 3rd pair D. Dont know why Braun being on the 1st pair has anything to do with anything, he wasnt there because thats his role, he was there because he was the piece of duct tap used to cover the hole.

I dont get the jackson hate. Homerism I suppose though he is good imo
- hello it's me 2050

definitely this. hes a big time homer but he is a good announcer.

and before i get jumped on, yes i know the pens announcers are ridiculously homerish too, albeit without the good. i guess the guy who replaced steigerwald is okay enough, hes knowledgeable enough but is a stiff. errey is painful.

Eichel isnt far away at 408. Playing on Buffalo does that. Worse Dmen than Ristolainen have played playoff games. It isnt strictly on him

Eichel actually looks worse because he went to a team in a playoff position and they dropped out with him on the team. Ristolainen just went from one poop team to another
