Take a look at the flyers picks in the top 5 throughout history. All the proof you need that tanking is hoping to get a great player and if there is one thing we have learned from history - hope is not a strategy. - Joe Nardone
Picking high is the best chance in the modern NHL at infusing a talented young player on to a team.
I think Tampa, Toronto, Colorado, Florida, Pittsburgh, Chicago, and Washington can attest to that.
Or one can continue doing what the Flyers do, and trying to lie to the fanbase about some naive plan of winning with a bunch of middle 6 players.
The Flyers think they can add the required level of talent via trade or FA. This isn’t 1995. |

How long was Bergevin the GM of Montreal? How many games for him, asking for a friend? - Glak18
Are you really claiming you have seen anything from Fletcher that makes you believe he just needs more time to be successful here? He made a lot of big roster moves last summer and traded away three valuable picks, and the team finished 29th. |

Ok I see your narrative twist...but do you really think I am sticking up for Chuck? The confusion must be you think you are still on facebook..I've seen enough of the Flyers to know new names, same problems.

Word has been leaking for years that the duo was toxic, unmanageable and uncoachable.
Suter demanding who his partners were, that they had to be RH, that he didn't want to play with certain players, etc. Dictating his own ice time, refusing to get off the ice during PPs playing the full 2:00. He'd go crying straight to the owner if he had any problems with the coaches. And remember this is the guy that hung up on his GM when he learned about the buy out. No thank you for the opportunity, nothing. Just click.
Parise wasn't much better.
Guerin put himself in cap hell just to get rid of them. - Tomahawk
Suter was toxic and Parise was temperamental until he became toxic last year after sitting in the press box. Metrics for the last 3 years showed that Suter wasn’t PP worthy. But he was still out there with his 50 mph wrist shot.

Suter was robbed of a Norris the year the stiff Subban won it......yay points - THE BLACK HAND

The team is about to get a top 5 pick. Really, in what should be the start of a true rebuild for a number of seasons.
Instead, we will get an immediate asinine push for "contention".
Imagine a Pittsburgh team with Crosby, and no Malkin. Think they do as well as they have? What about Chicago with Toews, but not Kane? Tampa with Stamkos but not Hedman?
Colorado with Landeskog but no MacKinnon, Makar or Rantanen? Washington with Ovechkin but no Backstrom? Toronto with Marner but not Matthews, or Nylander. Florida with Huberdeau with no Ekblad or Barkov?
Each example can be nitpicked but the proof is all there. It takes more than one season to properly build an elite team via the draft. The Flyers are so desperate to try, and rush a process that is so necessary.
Whoever continues to run this team, influence its decisions, and harp into the ear of Comcast has no idea how to build a high end team in the modern NHL. The Flyers thinking they know better than the vast majority of successful clubs in recent years sure has worked out well. |

trade down with Buff for #9 and Florida's pick.
Or will Chuck even have the patience to make this pick? 2/3 players away screams trade for NHL player..... - hello it's me 2050
I was actually thinking of this myself. They could get Jonathan Lekkerimäki at #9 who has been moving up the board since the U18s |

See I think once one goes someone gets antsy and looks to move for the other. In terms of D men there’s a pretty decent fall off after those 2. - hereticpride
I'm hopeful the first D man comes off the board @ 4. I could be wrong. I do believe Wright and Cooley are gone by 3. So essentially Flyers are guaranteed either Slafkovsky, Nemec, or Jiricek.

Imagine the Bruins without Bergeron, Marchand or Pastrnak.... oh, right. Two of them weren't first round picks and the other was a late first rounder.

His dad played for the Sabres, Sharks and Flyers. I think he’ll spend at minimum 2-3 years in college. Middle six ceiling imo.

The Flyers are being set up for a perfect chance at making a run for Bedard or Michkov.
Instead we will see some sort of push to try, and win that elusive first round champion banner.
Frustrating, that’s for sure. - FlyerFan3260
FANTILLI has passed Michkov in rankings partially due to his KHL contract, partially because he is also awesome. |

One example to my many.
We both know you are against the rebuild I propose. The current way has yielded great results after all.
This perpetual retool concept is a pathetic attempt at building a team in 2022. |
