This. I like nemec too but Cooley will be just as nice of a haul if we get either one - Bob Habib
If Cooley is there for sure. But I seriously doubt he will be.

Here's what I'm hoping happens, not saying it's likely.
1. Wright
2. Slafkovsky
3. Nemec
4. Jiricek
Columbus wants Cooley bad and offers us 6&12.
We get Kemmel and Howard.
A guy can dream, right? |

Jiricek, should be our pick, if he's not there then Kemell.
we should draft smart, because you dont get many top 5 picks and these are the ones that can change a team. |

There are a good 7-8 guys who have a high probability of becoming really good NHL players. Flyers are guaranteed one of those.
Not being in a position to have the pick of the litter isn't always a bad thing: See: 2011 draft. |

I would be very surprised if both Jiricek and Nemec go before 5. With Jiricek back playing, really would be happy with either prospect. |

You know somewhere in that group of 7-8 players is a bust. Just saying.

I'd rather take Cooley over the two. |

For sure, no guarantees.
Its just weird seeing people convinced that the Flyers are boned b/c they don't have a top-4 pick. |

This just in: the guy the Flyers draft #5 this year is immediately thereafter expected to miss 5-9 months with an upper body injury suffered when his Hot Pocket exploded in his microwave. The good news? It was a Philly "Steak n Cheese" one, so there's that. |

Like I said the other day. The injuries temporarily overcame the Flyers incompetence and the team is extremely fortunate to be blessed with a top 5 pick. It is an extremely fortunate outcome.

The same could be said about Montreal...
and fortunate to be hosting the draft.

And fortunate that their owner fired the GM who was responsible for them being bottom of the league and loaded with bad contracts.
Not sure why the Flyers ownership hasn't followed suit yet. If results don't matter, why even own a sports team? |

Didn't the Flyers try cleaning house recently by firing GM, coach, staff and some scouts?

You think November 2018 is recent? Almost four years is an eternity in hockey.
Chuck Fletcher has been in charge for 264 regular season games, and the Flyers have missed the playoffs three out of four times, including the past two seasons in a row. |

See I think once one goes someone gets antsy and looks to move for the other. In terms of D men there’s a pretty decent fall off after those 2. |

How long was Bergevin the GM of Montreal? How many games for him, asking for a friend?

Take a look at the flyers picks in the top 5 throughout history. All the proof you need that tanking is hoping to get a great player and if there is one thing we have learned from history - hope is not a strategy. |

Yes and they brought in all folks from outside the system and old buys network. How did that work? |
|
|
|
The Flyers are being set up for a perfect chance at making a run for Bedard or Michkov.
Instead we will see some sort of push to try, and win that elusive first round champion banner.
Frustrating, that’s for sure. |
