On one hand, he was instrumental in helping Rochester get to the playoffs this year. On the other hand, he didn't get a fair shake in Buffalo. Meanwhile, guys like Eakin, Bjork and Hayden stunk up the joint. He deserves a full year in Buffalo and if not, I don't blame him if he goes to Europe.

For Fiala, with his contract situation, I wouldn't do 9. Love the player, but would want a commitment before using 9.

Probably on the unrealistic side...based moreso on Adams public remarks.
As we know, the Wild will have Cap issues for 3 seasons with those Buyouts hitting. They'll have their challenges to roster a decent team during those years going with younger players on cheaper contracts ... or trading for LTIR contracts. Signing Fiala forces them to make some personnel decisions.
Not sure about the $10m contract forecast, at least for this season with 1 year of RFA status left.
Probably more like $7.5 -$8.5 this his last season as RFA.
This past season he went to Arb and got $5.1m after posting 0.80 ppg. He is now at 1.05 ppg. For another 1 year contract I can't see him getting much more than a 50% pay increase.

Although I see mitts as the most tradeable young forward over ( krebs, quinn, peterka, tage, cozens)
I can't see the Sabres giving up on a cost effective (2.5 million I believe) guy that hasnt been able to prove 100% healthy season. Mitts has top end talent IMO.

At the deadline though, if were in the hunt and mitts continues his ho hum career.... maybe once the core steps up and gives the gm a contender......

PLD hated being in Columbus, I can't imagine he'd like it in Buffalo. He wanted to play with daddy up in Winnipeg. He's where he wants to be and I don't see WPG trading him. They will probably try to sign him long-term, he's an RFA.

Winnipeg is going to try and unload Scheifele this summer, imo. And we don't want him. They need to free up some cap space. Scheifele and Wheeler are huge cap hits with M-NTC - Scheifele has a 10-team list and Wheeler has a 5-team list. But Wheeler is their captain and he's most likely a deadline move next year.

I'd love to take Hellebuyck off their hands but idk if they'd want to part ways with him just yet.

I still think Cozens has the highest ceiling of any current Sabres forward, including Tage.

If the defensive game comes around, look out.

His impacts suggest he can put up 60-70 points next year if we get him the right wingers
