yet fido has been saying all this time we need to build from the center position... I'm confused. - Pat1993
yes, you build by the center, but you take the best player available. period. if he's a center good, if he's not, you'll trade from one. that's how they got Suzuki isn't it?
and Danault btw. |

The way I see it you build a team from back to front, start with the D's (we already have some good ones coming up) then you build the center line.
Fianally you fill the roster with wingers ... they're usually the easiest and cheapest ones to trade for (we have a ton of picks). Stud centers are almost impossible to trade for as other teams rarely want to let them go ... ask Bergevin ...
Just my 2 cents. - Garfield512
I 100% agree.
We also have that extra little nugget of a first we can easily throw into a trade. Most likely a high teens pick. Drury may need to make splash too if they lose Tomorow, or eventually

Well that probably depends on who you're asking.
But I personally saw him as a guy who could become a point per game player. - Scabeh
interesting. like you said if the offer was there the habs would need to at least consider it, because the answer isn't so clear cut, but I still think Lafrenière doesn't need the additional pressure there would be if they traded the #1 pick for him... I simply see this as becoming a very bad scenario all over again.

I'm seriously considering dropping your boy from my keeper league.

Again it’s the same with laf. These two don’t get any PP time that’s noteworthy. Regular season the first unit was so good the second unit never saw the ice, which they are on
If anything he is a bit injury prone. Nagging injuries all season |

sure, but if it isn't that obvious between 2 players, logically you should take the center.

top 5 picks don't get traded in the NHL. Wright has size, three zone awareness, a plus shot and skates well. not a burner but neither is Laf.
Wright will be the better pro especially if the Habs let him stay another year in juniors. He has NHL qualities as rn but losing the year delayed his development a bit. Add in the pressure of being the #1 in montreal and it is better long term to not rush him. |

Well as a Rangers fan, I'm not too worried he'll end up being a solid player for you guys.
Fantasy wise though, he's not as sexy until he does get some pp time.

yeah, doesn't seem obvious at all to me.
and besides, trading for centers as you're suggesting doesn't seem that easy to do...

true, but it's easier when you have quality prospects because you drafted the bpa.
anyway, we're just talking, won't happen. they'll draft Wright. |

He's been, for years, their best playoffs performer.
I try to tell them Karine but they won't listen. |

It is and if Lafrenière wasn’t a Quebecer this wouldn't even be suggested…that’s all that needs to be said on that matter. |

But he is a Quebecer.
And yes, it does matter.
I'll bring it out again but no one wanted to trade Galchenyuk for Huberdeau at the time either.

well, at least in this case he was actually projected to be a very good player, lots of talk about how MTL would've drafted him had they won the lottery... but yeah the rumors are there because of that as well for sure.

Thing is people wanted Drouin they got him in a trade and that didn’t quite work out did it? Im like you, this is not something Lafrenière needs right now |
