Slaf is not best player available - no - but you try to get a top 6 power forward through trade...

Why not get a top pairing defense through trade... they're just about as common. You would never pry a Tkachuk away from Ottawa or Calgary... so just draft a power forward and be done with it.

Not much lost value either... Cooley isn't becoming a top 10 center in this league and Nemec isn't becoming a top 10 def (top 60 for that matter) and Kemell is the only other guy who could become an elite goal scorer.

Devils need to take Slaf, Kemell, or Jiricek with the pick or it'll basically be a blown opportunity to get a rare type of player. I have ?? about Kemell, though... good numbers, but that second half... yuk. Cooley is just more what they already have and Nemec is overrated and also too similar to Luke Hughes.

I would do the 2nd OA plus Zacha and Smith for Laine.
