Before this series started I would have thought a game full of special teams would have favoured the Leafs and a series of 'no calls' would have favoured TB.

Leafs dominated 5v5. First period was all PK and PP ...no chance to get set. Next two periods the Steak took control.

Early? He wasn't on the ice for the 2 goals in the first.
That play didn't change a thing, Tampa didn't score afterward.
Yes it was ugly, seen lots uglier in games 2 and 4. So lets only hang Nylander and Holl.
He did chase the puck down afterwards and nearly stole it from the Tampa defender.

- bobbyisno1

No that was the ugliest play of the playoffs by far, his game 4 scaredy cat no effort move....just for go a line a change.
Holl?
No one mentioned him. But he did play well last night.
Also, no one said it was either's fault they lost that game.
Just glad to see in period 2 and 3 last night willie turned things on.....outside of Zezel.

After his game 4 and 1st period performance of game 5.....he really really needed to step up
- Fakepartofme

What do you know, went back to the highlites for game 4 and Nylander wasn't on the ice for any of the 5 goals.

Pattern looks to have Tampa come back strong and win game 6.
But hopefully the leafs can change that.

Let's praise Campbell for not giving up the back breaker. Bolts had plenty of chances to ice it, and Jack held them in. If the tables were turned, everyone would be talking about Vasi the God! Soup was incredible!

Hoping against all of the ghosts of Leafs teams past, that this gets finished game 6.

- Leaffrog

high chance we see a games on Saturday.

Need my Saturday Leafs Hockey fix.

Very true. Huge bounce back for him as well. That breakaway save on Paul in particular comes to mind

Kucherov missed the net on their 5-3

Ya he kept them in for sure, made some top level saves.
We need another game like that from him.
Still worries me that we havent seen Vasi's best, hopefully we dont.

- dmnted

that's what you're focusing on?

Maybe he missed because Campbell is in his head.

Yet, he scored 2 goals and was a -1.
Being on the ice for goals against doesnt always correlate to playing bad and not being on the ice for goals against doesnt correlate to playing great.
Either way, he made up for it in period 2 and 3 last night. A great two periods by the whole team.
Lets carry that into game 6.

he could be in the Tampa players head living rent free.

just one example on Tampa chance were off and not cashing in.

that PK was huge.

Oh for sure.. The PK stepped up when needed.. After that Tavares goal, the ice tilted for the remainder of the game..

It was all Leafs from that point on.. Huge credit goes to Soupy for all those saves on Nick Paul in the 2nd

Who cares that he didn't put his body on the line in a fringe blow out. He was willing to put it on the line last night when they were down by a goal and that's all that matters.

The guys has incredible skill, world class.
He does not like to get hit so kudos to him for driving the net on that play.
He is the antithesis of a power forward, but you can't teach what he can do or practice it, his skill is elite.
We just have to accept what he is and what he is not and appreciate the good parts.

You're right.. Nylander threw a hit yesterday.

In all seriousness, that is the Nylander they need on a consistent basis.. That shot he ripped by Vasi was great. The shot pass on the JT goal was smart as well..

Leafs finally had all the big guys show up in the same game.. Whatever Spezza said to Campbell and the team in the intermission worked.. Spezza's a beauty

I know. it was a clean sweep by the Avs. what happens when your 1 goalie goes down just before the playoff starts.

Best two periods of total team play by a Leaf team for many years. Important to keep in mind that Tampa had their "A" game going in the first period. So, Leafs had to crank it up against a superior team that has a proven track record of dominating play once they get the lead. Impressive.
- spatso

Just read some of the exchanges with Mr spatso and Sens blogger
Kevin Francis

wow..something to see, spatso just annoying the poop out of anyone he comes in contact with

imagine bailing on your team, to jump ship to the Sens who are poop for years after...but trying your hardest to convince yourself and anyone else that you are happy about it all.
