I noticed something today. This is new to me in a playoff series..... there is nobody on the Leafs that I hate. Every team has a douchebag, dirty player, or pest. Even if a team doesn't have a Marchand, Wilson, or Perry, somebody usually steps up and fills that role in the post season. So far, in this series, I don't have a Leaf to focus my Bolt hate on. Nobody jumps out at me as hateable....yet.

Maybe it would have been Clifford, but after pasting Colton into the boards, he hasn't been seen again. Simmonds? Well, I kinda like the guy and always have. I'm glad he's not playing in Tampa (he doesn't move the needle much outside of sandpaper), but I don't have anything against him.

Most of the Leafs players are pretty clean, so who do I hate?

Leaf fans hate them all except for Matthews and Rielly

More like Holl is the soggy/undercooked frites with your steak that completely ruins the entire meal.

I guess thats perspective. I'm crushing a pre-game rib eye in honour of the Leafs win tonight. Matty with a pair. And I could care less what I have on the side. just stay out of the way of my steak.

I think Bourne has it right: Holl’s mistakes are glaring and the things he does right are not as easy to see. Like any D, trade off the cost of the errors against the value of what he does well. In Keefe’s view, that balance means keeping him in. Most fixate on the errors.

Yeah totally.

In the end, if the 6th D is the downfall of this team, there are serious problems with the top 6 players in the lineup. Matthews, Marner, JT and Nylander have to break through matchups if this team has any chance of moving on, pretty simple.

Bunting hasn't been able to Bunting yet. That's the only reason for this.

Last year there weren't enough penalties.

This year there are too many.

You can take your logic, your measured response, intriguing speculation, reasonable approach to debate, and shove it!

Hope Bunting isn't dealing with nagging injuries and can reconnect with the top line. 🙏

- mjones242

Haha - I hope he’s not injured as well. That’s a loss for sure.

The bottom line is don't call it unless you really saw it. If I hook your stick and you yell out, "Ow, (frank)!", but the ref didn't see my stick touch your hand, don't call that crap. If the ref clearly saw that your hand wasn't touched - feel free to call an embellishment penalty. Stop the idiocy. But if you saw it, call it.

But the refs too often see some type of result and just call something, but they don't even know what they're calling. Hooking, Tripping, Slashing, Interference are all now interchangeable - despite the fact that they are all quite clearly very different if they are called for what they are.

The truth is that you won't have too many penalties in short-order when they realize that the refs are actually calling penalties. When the players think the refs are guessing, so are they. No one knows what's going on and nothing has to change.
