Same thing with Keefe, you gotta pump these guys tires. Otherwise they’ll feel the pressure of the entire fan base and poop the bed again.

Per Chris Johnston

Sheldon Keefe says he watched Game 4 back three times and he believes the Giordano-Holl pairing was as good as the #leafs had that night.

stats wise, Lyubushkin had the worst results

cf 26%
goals 0-2
scf 5-13

etc etc

at home, the leafs can better control who they play against, so hopefully not as barfy this time

I mean I get it. They need to step up at some point and show they can win in the playoffs. But this isn't Columbus or Montreal. Back to back Champs are a different animal. Series was basically a coin flip from the beginning. I hope they play their asses off and win it.
- PlatosRepucklic

Thats the point.
They had easier with those teams and they blew.
No excuses now.

I can only imagine being on TSN radio or something and they say that the cohost is steve simmons and you have to bite your tongue the entire time to not mention all the stupid poop he's said or written in the past and treat his takes as legitimate

Except for the soft Grenada he tossed up the boards that led to the first goal on the first shift that set the tone for the whole game? Lololol

Every defensive pairing seemed to manage (frank)ing up all on their own - tone setting or not. They were all bad.

I don't see why the Leafs need to entertain his dumb(frank)ery. There's no need to invite him to the pressers - nor is there a need to have him allowed to talk to Leaf players. He does nothing but pooptalk the team and then use them to try and further his career.

He is nothing without the sports teams he craps all over.

To be even more fair about being fair, they had 5 points at home when they got the matchups they wanted, and 1 point each on the road when they didn't.

Tonight they are at home.

- Monkeypunk

To keep adding fairness: those road points were both on the PP. And I think(?) Hedman was on the ice for 2-3 of the goals in Game 1, go figure.

Holl is the mashed potatoes that come with my steak dinner. They never make or break the success of my dinner. When we lose it's bc the steak isn't good enough.

Holl-Boosh-Lilly .....all potatoes.

Holls bad clearance was a part of a poopty shift by a few guys. So was Kase flying the zone ..and failing to cover Stamkos ...and so was Campbell failing to get a good look at that shot.

And Holl's poopty mistake didn't cause Muzzin to misplay the puck to the open man in front of the goal on the second goal.

Nor did it cause Rielly to make a poopty pinch on the 3rd goal ...or cause campbell to allow Moron to drop his pants on that goal.

Time to focus fellas ....we need the big boys to shine. Big game from 34 and 16 tonight.

That play is more on Kase who flew the zone instead of reading the situation and allowed a clean pick off by Tampa.

Holl is not a great defenseman, but so many in here want to blame him for everything wrong. He needs support from his forwards, too. The worst D-pairing we have is Rielly-Lyubushkin. Holl and Liljegren are largely interchangeable if they are going to get hammered on the back boards, because Holl can handle it better, but in the neutral zone or offensive zone, Lilly is better.

Would I rather see Lilly get the opportunity to grow his game? Sure, I would. He has a much higher ceiling. But they are playing to win now and if they think Holl is advantageous over Lilly, that's the call. They have a lot more footage and video and analysis than anyone here has.

Then hopefully they work their way through it in game 6 and hopefully Keefe starts doing some small coaching things to try and work it in their favour.

We're 4 games now so I think we the trends are pretty firm.

34-16 v Cirelli/Point/Hedman is not good. 34-16 v. Stamkos/Kuch is good.

I'm expecting a big game for 34/16 tonight given that they should have the better matchup. Special teams will be big again too.

Not particularly, but blaming Holl for our losses is about as realistic as blaming Riley Nash for our loss to the Habs last year. The problem extends far past the reach of some bottom pairing or bottom line guy who hasn't even played in all of the games.

No room for rationality in Leafs Nation... We need a whipping boy... Holl just serves himself up for that role... We oblige... His first shift last game was atrocious and really set the tone for that first period collapse... Lillipad must be hurt if he's still out of the line up...
