Written before the Trotz news obviously.

I would give him a shot 100%. Like I said would be shocked even if they gave him an interview. They have their archaic set list plus Montgmery already made up. Prior to Trotz.

Count me in the group that wants nothing to do with Trotz.

I’m sure there are counter arguments that can be made but for a team thats so desperately struggling to develop creative, offensive talent I am not a supporter of his.

His style may work, but also from an entertainment point of view I’ve had enough of watching boring hockey from the Flyers for what seems like an eternity.

It would very much fit the idea that they will try to squeeze water out of a rock, instead of continuing to put off a rebuild.

Pierre fired by the Senators. I guess he couldn't stop fellating himself to the Sidney Crosby posters hanging in his office. HR could only take so many complaints.

Oh and the betting line says Trotz to Winnepeg.

Have to consider the front office too. Is Trotz sold on this front office making the right moves? I wouldn’t be.
- hereticpride

If the Flyers want him, does that instill confidence in him that they can make the right moves? lol

This is actually bad news. Now there is a chance ESPN hires him for in-game commentary.

He couldn't be worse than any of the folks they have now.

Edit: Oops, that Pierre. I stand corrected.

NHL radio just said there are only 7 coaches in the NHL who were the coach of their team 3 seasons ago.

Back to drafting- I want Slafkovsky.. big, shot, good skating skills IIRC from watching his olympic performance. He will finish and create space for himself as well. More like a modern day Jagr though more nimble feet.

Funny thing, a teammate on the Slovak team was Michal Cajkovsky who was playing in Reading a few years ago just after his junior career ended. He was another skilled player who had size skills and a monster shot from the point as he showed in the Olympics. Met him when he was with the Royals, had some interesting ink on his arms..

Oh yeah Trotz in a heartbeat

- RajaAmpat

We shouldn't overthink the draft. Even you're as bad as the Flyers, they need help everywhere. There isn't onr specific style of player this team couldn't use.

Take the BPA who you think projects as the best NHL ready player.

Slafkovsky does seem like quite a talent. I’m of the opinion that it will take more than one high pick to properly rebuild this team though.

There is a worry on my end that the Flyers have become a little too focused on the US prospect game in recent years. Tunnel vision cannot happen this draft.

Oh my god! Pierre McGuire was a head coach anywhere? I had no idea he was with Ottawa. I thought he was still on nbc

Imagine Forsberg AND Jagr on the Flyers...
- Glak18

The possession numbers would be through the roof. Probably THE two toughest guys to knock off the puck.

I agree it's more than one player to right the ship. But at least it's a start.

Too distracting?

I dont see how it works tbh. Coach is in the locker room with the guys, the guys shower, get dressed and often walk around nude in the locker room. If the roles were reverse and it was a male coaching a female team. It wouldnt be appropriate for the man to be in that locker room right?

He was Vice president of the Sens not Head coach. He has only ever been an assistant coach

Big (and will get bigger), skilled, and a mean streak. We DEFINITELY need someone like him.

Whatever. McGuire shouldn’t be in charge of anything hockey related.

He's fully qualified to lead the Crosby, Toews and Phaneuf fan clubs

Still love this clip. No idea how he goes from arguing headshot to Toews

Actually, he coached the Whalers after Paul Holmgren stepped aside to focus on being the GM (amongst other things). He lasted all of 6 months in that job.

It was back in 1994, and like his broadcasting, his coaching performance stunk. It's probably better that no one ever mentions it.

Whoever the flyers take will be the most nhl ready player for this season imo. Not necessarily the best player.
