What happened to the Blackhawks signing Swedish free agent defenseman Filip Roos?

In a recent article by Scott Powers from the Athletic where he had several prospect updates, he talked about how the Hawks are no longer in the sweepstakes for Russian winger Andrei Kuzmenko with the reason being that the team doesn't want to burn bridges with European free agents as the franchise is in a rebuild, i.e. relationships can be harmed if they're just going to flip these players at the TDL each time.

So possibly that's why the Hawks had second thoughts on signing Filip Roos. There could be a totally different reason but just wanted to put that out there as it's still good intel to know regardless, i.e. don't expect any European free agents over the next few years.

Then again, maybe Roos is still signing and the team is waiting to announce it. No other team has signed him so there's that, too.

A couple things. First of all, Schmaltz makes Strome look like Kruger. Second of all, I'll grant he put up points this year, but he's not a PPG player. He's a 0.7 PPG player who rode an almost 20% shooting percentage this year. Yes, he is good if you want to put up points, but let's not start yearning for that turd.

Also, yes, Stan left this team looking like poop.
