Before we got him, it sounded like he was almost destined to sign here last year so maybe theres a decent chance at getting him for a good price. Rielly taking a bit of a discount probably helps a bit too. I'm not sure what's fair for him in a modern market but I think 3.5ish per year would be a good target for us. - torfc23
His point production will push him up over 4 million I think… maybe even 5… we’ll see how bad he wants to stay a leaf I guess |

Yeah they are calling things evenly in that regard. However, it doesn't mean the refs can't improve and make better calls for both teams. - Aaron_85
I think people are a bit hard on the refs tbh.
We see the game so much more clearly these days… watching it on tv is clearer than being another guy who’s actually on the ice.
I think the refs still do extremely well but I’d like to see a bigger use of the reviews tbh. Maybe even add a whistle that can be blown by a red who is off the ice and watching video?
I won’t pretend to know how to solve it but I do believe what’s seen on video is clearer than what’s seen on ice. |

I'm willing to bet they see all the cross checks, they just don't call them. Otherwise Tampa would have 1 or 2 guys in the box all night long.
But then again if they called them maybe Tampa would stop. |

I know Warren made it happen. Can’t remember how he ensured it but he was the owner/GM of the team at the time and he made sure his son played for his team
Yup, I’m a lucky guy….had him in the family and… a big and Lol…myself and Andy McDonald were born 5 days apart and grew up together. I played goalie in his driveway after school all the time since we were around the corner from each other. I won’t pretend I was a dominant hockey player because I wasn’t.. more baseball and primarily a musician.
Which is the cool part… after Andy won the cup with the Ducks he got me and my band at the time to play his bring the cup home party… so I’ve gotten to kiss it… check it out

Wow that's amazing. It really does come down to who you know sometimes doesn't it Haha? That must've been an awesome night/week though getting to play for him bringing the cup home after literally growing up together and playing hockey together all those years. And then literally being able to kiss the actual cup, wow.
I really wish I couldve grown up in Canada. Everyone I talk to has some amazing hockey related stories and I just love how much it's in the blood of almost everyone as a culture. It's really so cool. |

You're probably right here. I wish he was up this year (though technically we could extend) so we could maybe get ahead of his point production.
Sandin's, Lily's, and Soup's contracts will also be interesting. |

Yeah but to be fair the leafs get away with that kind of thing too… it’s only when a player takes it a step too far and they get called. That’s why I hate reviews… listen… the ref will throw some rope and you won’t get called but don’t complain when you’ve crossed the line.
I do truthfully prefer that mindset when it comes to reffing instead of the expectation of them to be a robot.
As I said I’m not against the idea of having an off ice ref but I still want it to be a person and not a robot |

I don't really notice the Leafs throwing many cross checks, but I see Tampa doing it every shift or pretty close to every shift. |

Also, I had my dirty lips on that cup in 94 when Healy brought it home, but I drank champagne out of it. |

Thank you for all that you said but I won’t lie either… it being in my blood is due to so much luck imo
For instance he’s a couple years younger than me but I grew up with that red head Brian Campbell as well. His brother and I were a year apart and he was 2 or 3 years younger than me…. Another Strathroy boy 👍
And damn the Oilers are on fire |

I agree when it comes to a comparison
The leafs seem to be way more focused on directing the puck and not the opposition’s sticks or bodies |

At least with Sandin and Liljegren they can’t get arbitration tho… which means management will be able to control their contract price unless they sit out.
So my guess they’ll be in that range which would allow the team to bury them in the marlies (if necessary) without cap hits
Not that they will, or should, but having the ability is a strong positive as well |

Loved Campbell's game tonight. Loved it. Didn't let the second goal sink him. 👍 - joel878
I liked it too. Absorbing pucks, no juicy rebounds. Looked calm. 👍 |

Oh I wore DR horse hair stuffed pads as a kid. After they got nice and wet they would be 10 lbs each. Lol
I’ll get modern gear but that looks like old school.
Something like this but I’d likely go white where the black is.

Just stop. - henny1953
I'll stop when the horse poop gets called the same way on both ends of the ice. It's the refs job to call the penalties, It's not the refs job to make sure the series goes 7 games.
Or maybe the NHL secretly tells them that it is. |

For those of you wondering:
Two people.
Flight down Sunday.
One night at Floridian Palace Hotel in downtown Tampa.
Horrible flight home Monday.
$1,066.
That includes all taxes, fees, etc.
Looks like you could get a pait of tix for under $200. |

It’s the refs’ job to call a roughly equal amount of penalties on both teams.
Which of course is franking ludicrous. |

Would have been nice to have been there and blast the Leafs' goal song on the cell phone after each tally. Great pre-game meal, even better bottle of wine, watching a good game with a great outcome followed by a 5km walk with the dog wasn't too bad.
