Ahhh crap… 3-0 Edmonton now…

I want LA to win… I know I’m a little biased cause my cousin played with Gretzky for them but I also hate Edmonton lol

- Dozzer

I'm not a huge Edmonton fan, but I do like seeing Hyman do well.

That's pretty cool though, it sounds like you have some hockey in your family. You're related to Kirby Rychel too right?

Yup, I knew Warren Rychel first before his son Kerby was even born lol

Got to see him playing on the kings at maple leaf gardens in the 3rd round of the playoffs back in 93’… I was so damn torn that night lol

Warren did tell me that Melrose tossed him on Wayne’s line to protect him and nothing more… I guess anyone who tried to touch Gretzky had to fight my cousin immediately lol

Oh the way he talked about playing with Gretzky was nuts.

In those playoffs because of this he was top 10 in league playoff scoring after the second round. He did fade off a bit after that but holy poop overall he had the exact same number of points in the post season than he had all season (13P).

“All I had to do is get in front of the net and leave my stick down then Wayne would just bounce it off me, I didn’t have to even really shoot” was how he described playing with him.

I heard Gretzky was pretty good.

Lucky for Leaf fans he saved his best ever game for them to enjoy in ‘93

Sorry

I'd be pretty torn there too. Probably still would root for the Leafs though haha.

That's really cool though. Imagine getting to play with Gretzky like that. Just being on his line could make your career and make a name for yourself. I can't imagine too many people tried to mess with Gretzky with how many protectors he always had lol.

I miss Hyman as a leaf I won’t lie but I also think he’s a tad overpaid considering his age (it also helps to think that way with how Bunting has played taking Human’s spot for the leafs)

Here’s to hoping Hyman proves he is worth it the entire time tho

Uh oh… 5-2 lol

I think he's a bit overpaid too but I'd definitely take him and Bunting both at the expense of Nylander's cap hit for example.

That was Warren’s job and he fully admits it. He said that his point production jumped up and it wasn’t because of him.

My cousin is such a solid guy… I remember after he retired he owned the spitfires for quite a few years. My grandfather hated being spoiled so he bought himself and I tickets down in Windsor one day (we’re from Strathroy). We got down there to see my Uncle Stan (Warren’s old man) but we did it as a surprise so Warren got called immediately.

Warren came down to the main floor before we hit our seats and gave us poop for buying tickets lol. He took them from us and put us into the owner’s box and told us to order whatever we wanted. So good to see him.

Yup, I’m curious what Bunting’s next contract will be… his point totals are nice but there won’t be many of them for a guy in his late 20s. Maybe the leafs will be able to keep him? Kinda hope so.

Hockey stories like that are some of my favorite things to hear. That must've been such a fun experience for you. I can totally relate to the not wanting to feel spoiled part too haha.

Is that connection why Kerby ended up on the Spitfires or was that just coincidence?

Before we got him, it sounded like he was almost destined to sign here last year so maybe theres a decent chance at getting him for a good price. Rielly taking a bit of a discount probably helps a bit too. I'm not sure what's fair for him in a modern market but I think 3.5ish per year would be a good target for us.

I know Warren made it happen. Can’t remember how he ensured it but he was the owner/GM of the team at the time and he made sure his son played for his team

Yup, I’m a lucky guy….had him in the family and… a big and Lol…myself and Andy McDonald were born 5 days apart and grew up together. I played goalie in his driveway after school all the time since we were around the corner from each other. I won’t pretend I was a dominant hockey player because I wasn’t.. more baseball and primarily a musician.

Which is the cool part… after Andy won the cup with the Ducks he got me and my band at the time to play his bring the cup home party… so I’ve gotten to kiss it… check it out

Both teams have had 15 PPs so far

The officiating is balanced. Complaining about it comes across extremely biased.

- Dozzer

Yeah they are calling things evenly in that regard. However, it doesn't mean the refs can't improve and make better calls for both teams.
