Frost has been a supposed to be for a while now, be nice for it to not just be potential. At some point you have to actually produce.
- ClaudeFather

True, but he hasn't even played a full season in the NHL yet. 77 games total. Lets see how much improvement he makes next season. I would honestly say, talk to me in January, then we can revisit whether or not that potential shows any signs of being reality.

That could very well be possible. IMO he plays timid. Content to float around and not impose himself on the play.

When it goes on for 30-40-full seasons it doesn’t. Think about the beginning of this year, there was a line of Laughton Lindblom and I forget the third player. Phenomenal underlying numbers but not goals to show. This went on for 15 games or so and guess what, we desperately needed actual production, we were out of the playoff picture by late November.

It was JVR, IIRC. But lets be honest, you have a line with Laughton and just-defeated-cancer Oskar and end-of-career JVR and they not only hold the line but spend the majority of their shifts in the ozone? Finishing or not, I'll be happy to take that. Same with a rookie line like Willman-Frost-Mayhew... even if they don't score, you're still happy they're often 150-feet from their own net.

Now if we're talking about guys like G, Coots, TK, Atkinson, Hayes and Farabee... then I'm not gonna be content with just the process, because the team is actually counting on their production.

Farabee actually concerns me more than Frost, especially with his new contract.

Health wise especially.

for what they are paid you need more than that to be successful.

Last season was Frost's rookie season in the NHL. His stats were on par with B.Schenn's first season here. Schenn had 18 points in 54 games

I get what you’re saying but I feel we have really overrated guys in our system the past few years. Provy was talked of like a Norris candidate. The entire organization has been an absolute mess which doesn’t help but we really don’t have much to show.

So he’ll automatically be as good as Schenn, got it.

Two different types of players but there's a common lesson: When it comes to player development, patience is necessary.

Schenn was also 3 years younger at that point. And had dominated the AHL to the tune of 6 goals and 6 assists in 7 games (Frost has been 'just OK' in the A). Not to mention he showed out in the playoff series against the Pens and had 9 points in 11 games in total.

I don't think all hope is lost for Frost and I recognize that he basically lost a whole season being injured, but I don't think this as apples to apples of a comparison as you're making it. Schenn was 20, Frost is 23.

Flyers have no choice in Frost case, though still think Chuck tries to trade him.

Yes but like I mentioned Frost lost time in his development. Since Covid hit he didnt play at all in the AHL in 20-21. He Only played 24 games in the AHL this season and the rest in the NHL.

How he did in the AHL is not really relevant given Frost still produced at a comparable rate this season to Schenn. All it shows is that Schenn was more NHL ready sooner.

Lets not forget Schenn was 5th Overall Pick. Frost is a 27th overall pick They are 2 ddifferent types of players and I am in no way suggesting he will be as good as Schenn. Im just saying patience is needed. At Frost's age (22) Schenn still only had 26 points. He isnt too far behind.

If he can put together a 30 point season next season that will be good progress.

Development been weird the past few seasons across the league. We'll get a better idea of what the Flyers really have as things settle down. I still believe there are a couple of difference-makers in the pool -- it's just probability.

I also think it's time to re-evaluate Provorov.

I want to see Provorov play with a legitimate top 4 partner before I write him off completely.

When you look at all the players who have won the Norris over the last few years, ALL of them have top 4 level regular partners. They don't have to carry their partners like Provorov does.

I am not saying he will ever win a Norris, he won't, but at least give him a partner to the level guys like Hedman, Fox, Doughty, etc have.

That is not Justin Braun.

Give Provorov Dante Fabbro for example, and watch if he plays better. It's no coincidence he started playing better when he played with Cam York.

Schenn had 26 points in a lockout shortened season. Which equates to around 45 in an 82 game season. I'd argue that Frost needs to show he can score 40-45 points, not 30 next season.

I have patience for Frost. He's been yo-yoed around by this organization and had a pretty big injury. If he can stick on a line with Cates and Tippett and their play driving stats continue and some of those chances start going in the net I'd be pretty happy.

Schenn was pretty yo-yoed by this team himself. I believe he was sent down his first season to cut bonuses on his deal. After that you never knew what forward position he was gonna play or what style they were comfort playing him in. Schenn is a guy who needs touches with the puck and be apart of the plays. After trading Hartnell, it was almost as if they put him in a very Hartnell like role.

Saw the Sam Morin presser today. I absolutely love his attitude. He is a winner. Hope he stays with hockey and good on Fletcher to offer him an entry-level start to a new career. I personally think that Flyer’s get more than they give there because he is clearly an extremely hard worker with a top quality attitude.

I’m really thinking Chuck tries to move up to 1 if the cost is feasible. If not, then moving to 2 or 3 to get Slafkovsky or Nemec. Every other player I think is going to require them to be a bit more patient than they want to be right now.

Good. Now make him Provorov's partner now.
