Well...up to a certain age.
Once they reach 12/13, the parents have less influence and kids tend to be more influenced by their friends etc.
Obviously teaching them respect and also practicing what you preach should have a big influence for them. But after a certain age, they do become their own people.
You can only hope the values youve instilled in them or tried to....will also become a part of them - Fakepartofme
Agreed. Like you said, as they get older how you teach changes. Hopefully the connections are still there

After Monica Seles, these things are no longer funny.
You enter the court of play, you will be neutralized. - Atomic Wedgie
Not the same thing at all. The guy that stabbed Seles basically ended her career while she was the #1 player in the world. Chappelle was not hurt luckily. If anything, it shows that more security is needed to stop lunatics from getting on the stage or playing area of events. Thankfully the security guards kicked the poop out of the attacker.
That's terrible, but in today's world sadly not all that surprising.
I recently wasted 30 minutes reading one fraction of the comments on a Facebook post showing the video of two 11 year old kids who ran onto the field at the Rogers Centre and were tackled by Security.
The comments were a constant argument about if there was 'excessive force' used against the kids and questions about why the security guys didn't just direct the kids off the field etc. The counter argument of course was essentially "play stupid games, win stupid prizes" / "Don't do the crime if you can't do the time".
Not surprisingly there were WAY more people pointing blame at the Security guys and jumping on the 'excessive force' bandwagon.
And we wonder why people do these things.
To me kids growing up today doing this stuff without fear of serious consequences grow up to do things like rush a comedian on stage with a knife. - Cush29
In 2022, kids have been swaddled to the point that they genuinely don't have a clue that stupid hurts.

I didn’t see any video of this event but security guards are routinely sued and convicted for kicking the poop out of people.

I doubt very much this guy will be able to sue the guards based on the fact that he was armed or thought to be armed. Happily he was taken away on a stretcher and probably will spend some time in the slammer. Hopefully his new friends will have some fun with him

7.5 x 7 me thinks or even 8 mil cap hit like Duchene - dmnted
Maybe more, if Calgary can't sign Johnny Hockey (which is quite possible) Kadri would be a perfect substitution for Sutter. He'd be one of the more docile ones in that group.
I have a feeling I'm in the 1% world here... But in my day- mid 70's Dads used to beat the tar out of us for being dumb... It curbed a lot of this noise.. with my own kids I'm a spanker.... which is also frowned upon.. However I've found it very useful in keeping the kids in line over the years..

What I was trying (and failing, apparently) to say is if a spectator enters the playing field, they need to be neutralized immediately. There’s no longer leeway for 11 year old kids or Morgana the Kissing Bandit.

Stay off the field, or you will get wrecked. - Atomic Wedgie
Agree, you didn't fail. I have an emotional dislike for the Seles event, who was one of the most successful Hungarian athletes of all time. While it ended Seles' career, the attacker's favorite player Graff became the number one player for some time - so he achieved his goal and received a two year suspended sentence.

Agreed.
No need to beat them after theyve been tackled and taken down....but for sure take them down how you would an adult.
