How in the actual Eff is a 2 handed slash that high not worth more than 2 minutes? "Because it's the goalie and they have one more padding than anyone" is not an option for an acceptable answer.

Marchand starts the whole thing with a late whack on the goalie, goalie give him a 'don't be an idiot' whack back on the shin pads. Goalie pushes Marchand who responds with that? If Marchand pushes the goalie back it's a wash to me but the fact he responded with that should mean he gets more - fine/suspension or 4 minutes at least.

It's even more unbelievable considering he just got a 6 game suspension in Feb for stickwork against a goalie and is the NHL's MOST SUSPENDED PLAYER IN HISTORY.

https://russianmachinenev...er-1-4-million-in-salary/

The crap he and Perry and others of their type get away with makes the league just look like a total joke. I guess every team needs to go out and find themselves a super rat like these clowns - who needs integrity in the game anyways?

Bunting needs to go to extra rat school, he's a solid B right now but he needs more to get to the A+ level.

I don't want him going all Matt Cooke or Torres level stupid.. There is an art to it.. gotta be smart about it. The accidently on purpose move...

Also Clifford after a few minutes?
- Scabeh

He may take a two minute penalty on his first shift. We'll call it the Cooper maneuver for fun

Would it help the Leafs win? If so, I say do it.

Muzzin rocks.

Muzzin on the #Leafs' reset after success in Game 1: "You got to understand that it’s one game. We haven't really won much yet. You enjoy it for a night. You look at things you need to improve on, and then you get ready to go again."

Jake Muzzin on Nylander playing through food poisoning: “You gotta do it. Doesn’t matter.” (And, yes, he’s speaking from experience.)

That link you've shared probably contains the best evidence in a small sample of why I hate the Boston announcers so (frank)ing much. They are despicable.

It'll be interesting. Kase-Blackwell-Simmonds (ignoring the penalties) were a negative all night. Might have been the worst game I've seen from Blackwell.

Kase back up to 2nd line and Cliff-Kerf-Simmonds as the 4th?

Does Speztastic bring some playoff energy? Cliff n Spez in and Blackwell/Simmonds out?

Clifford-Spezza-Kase?

- The Law

It's more than a little puzzling to me that Tampa can roll Perry and for some reason Keefe won't roll Spezz.. He instantly brings more Offense to whatever line he's on.. and he can still 2nd PP effectively.. I don't get it.. and he can still on occasion still chuck'm...

I'm sure they regret everything at night when they look at their 2 cup rings in the last 2 years.

Especially Kucherov, he's a classy guy.

The two covid cups will fade fast as soon as they get owned. And it is coming. As far as Kucherov goes, he's a few notches below OV as far as I'm concerned in terms of being a classy guy.

Agreed, nobody wants the stupidity that is those 2 clowns but the Perrys and Marchands of the league (hell even Kucherov) seem to have it figured out and get away with multiple things you just look at and ask "How is that allowed", I'm just saying Bunting needs to get to that place if he can.

I'd like to be objective and say the fact he wears a blue and white jersey with a big Maple Leaf on the front won't prevent it from happening but my tin foil hat wearing friend on my other shoulder says different.

To me the big difference is the Perrys and Marchands, Tom Wilsons and Kucherovs etc.are skilled players in addition to poop disturbers vs a Kyle Clifford and maybe that is a contributing factor? Simmonds is a 'used to be skilled guy' now who perhaps gets some leeway based on that but when is the last time a drastically less skilled guy (like Clifford but there are similar guys on other teams for sure) got away with something like what Marchard did last night? It's like when the Clifford types go over the boards the refs focus on them because they know the probability of them doing something dumb is high.

I think Spezz could be that guy..at least for this series, why not .. he's got the skills and just enough nasty to be that guy on the 4th line.

Perry is a god damn master.

Having him on your team is awesome, playing against him is annoying as hell.

Agreed and I'd be shocked (and angry) if he doesn't get into game 3. Simmonds needs a rest / time out for the bonehead penalty last night and his general ineffectiveness in game 2. Clifford had more (positive) impact in the 5 minutes he played in game 1 than Simmonds did last night.

Someone else said Clifford, Spezza on the wings of the 4th line and I'm all in on that, as far as who centre's that line - I think they may have to move around some pieces but I'm not sure Blackwell is who I want there in game 3 he's been pretty m'eh to me.

The oilers are somewhere between not very good and very overrated. Blueline is weak, goaltending is awful and their offence is the definition of top heavy. Easily exploitable come playoff time, which is why it happens every year.

Ken Holland has that team so (frank)ed up and no one seems to know.

- joel878

That’s more along my ways of thinking on their roster. Also unproven PO success of any kind. On the other hand LAK have proven cup pedigree just not the dynamic scoring duo like McD & D. Doughty out they lose some stability although imo he’s not at his peak. In goal could be a saw off overall.

Yup.
I get that Tampa, as a team can turn it on and dominate, but Vasi is still my biggest worry.
Hoping he cracks this year......this round. Its gotta happen eventually, right?

- Fakepartofme

I wouldn’t bank on that lol. If JT can get his line flying that’s the edge that gets it done. AM & MM can only be contained so much if that’s the case. TB is deep enough to shut down 1 line but overall team speed is the bread n butter. Discipline & special teams decides the series. Players like Stamkos & Cirelli have yet to really make an impact.

Umberger gets elbowed in the back of the head "Not much contact. Good non call"

Brassard gets slew footed "Doesn't look like a slew foot to me"

I didn't realize how dirty he truly is until I clicked the link. Like, the Sami Salo hit was 10 years ago and while we were aware of concussions and hits to the head we don't take them as serious as we do now. I'm pretty confident he was knocked out when he hit the ice. Unreal the league thinks the publicity of Marchand's antics is worth the danger he gives the leagues star players in ending their careers. No other explanation why he hasn't faced 20 games or just expulsion.

I mean he still has hands. Look at his breakaway goal. I also am confident he sold that cross check like no other I've seen. Rolling up his sleeve, leaving it dangling at his side while he skates to the bench slowly.

Also, I did enjoy Bieksa showing his top speed vs the ice cleaning crew.

He even pump faked it before he let the slash fly. That's a damning indictment of not only intent but also the opportunity to check your emotion and let it pass, and him deciding to go full swing anyways.
- joel878

He faked it and then the goalie hit him with his glove so he gave it to him 🤣
