speaking of Marchand, how can you swing your stick at another player and not get suspended for ....games? - senstroll
Easy if you play for Boston or Tampa its ok, if you play for the Leafs or your name is Kadri in person hearing.

Forecheck to separate the man from the puck? Check.
Take a hit to make a play? Check.

I guess that semblance of parity appeared when after 7 PP for Tampa Leafs were awarded their 4th with 4 minutes to play and the game basically over. - winsix
7PPs vs 4PPs is much more paritous (word?) than 27PPs vs 4PPs |

Jon Pooper announces before the game we have to make it more difficult for Campbell. First shift out, Magoon runs Campbell for the most effective two minute penalty of the playoffs so far. - winsix
They have two cups.
So it works.
Leafs should use some tricks from their playbook |

Canes defense made Mrazek look like a good goaltender.
I don't want to take credit away from said 3rd goaltender but let's just say the team in front of him makes the goaltender's job alot easier. - Scabeh

Yeah that was a pretty blatant slash to the shoulder of the Canes 3rd ??? goalie.. who looks like he's pretty damn good.
- dozerD10
How in the actual Eff is a 2 handed slash that high not worth more than 2 minutes? "Because it's the goalie and they have one more padding than anyone" is not an option for an acceptable answer.
Marchand starts the whole thing with a late whack on the goalie, goalie give him a 'don't be an idiot' whack back on the shin pads. Goalie pushes Marchand who responds with that? If Marchand pushes the goalie back it's a wash to me but the fact he responded with that should mean he gets more - fine/suspension or 4 minutes at least.
It's even more unbelievable considering he just got a 6 game suspension in Feb for stickwork against a goalie and is the NHL's MOST SUSPENDED PLAYER IN HISTORY.
https://russianmachinenev...er-1-4-million-in-salary/
The crap he and Perry and others of their type get away with makes the league just look like a total joke. I guess every team needs to go out and find themselves a super rat like these clowns - who needs integrity in the game anyways?
Bunting needs to go to extra rat school, he's a solid B right now but he needs more to get to the A+ level. |

Leafs need at least a split in Tampa. I would think that Clifford is in, we'll see who is out.

Oh ya, if the leafs lose both in the Tampa, series is pretty much over. |

He even pump faked it before he let the slash fly. That's a damning indictment of not only intent but also the opportunity to check your emotion and let it pass, and him deciding to go full swing anyways. |

I just dont get how a 2 handed swing with a stick is not an auto gtfo

Leafs need to come out of the gate and take both of those games IMO, if it goes to game 7 I have very little faith that the Leafs can seal the deal against Tampa |

Bearing in mind that confidence is king. Carolina's defense is the type that gives you more confidence - so you're not just making routine saves because they get more of those forced at you - but you're starting to make better saves as well when called upon because you know you will. The routine saves become easier, and so on.
When the confidence goes, even the easy shots are live grenades. To me a great example of that was always Felix Potvin. Loved Potvin, but when his confidence left him, he was terrible in Toronto, terrible in New York, terrible in Vancouver - and then he finally found it again in LA. It's not like he ever forgot how to be a good goalie, he just stopped believing he was.
Mrazek could, theoretically, be a solid 1B guy if he can get that mojo back. But with his rebound control (or lack thereof), he does himself no favours no matter how much confidence he has or doesn't have.

Yep. Does anyone remember the last time a Leaf player did this to an opposition goalie? I feel like that is a missing piece here, a guy who does that stuff and sometimes ends up in the box but still messes with the goalie. Tucker was great at it, who is that player now? Bunting? If so someone better tell him to go do it.
You can't do it with a 'known goon' though, it gets called every time, you need the sneaky rat type of guy who can do it under the radar 8 of 10 times. - Cush29

Perhaps, we've seen a significant uptick in Matthews and Marner this year. Unless Pooper goes out of his way to try to have his goons injure them I like the Leafs in ths series. Leafs have to be a little better on their shooting - high blocker as they did in Game 1. The PP needs to be better as well. |

It'll be interesting. Kase-Blackwell-Simmonds (ignoring the penalties) were a negative all night. Might have been the worst game I've seen from Blackwell.
Kase back up to 2nd line and Cliff-Kerf-Simmonds as the 4th?
Does Speztastic bring some playoff energy? Cliff n Spez in and Blackwell/Simmonds out?
Clifford-Spezza-Kase? |
