Mea Culpa.. Muzz has been terrific so far with Brodie..

Last night Gio and the kid no bueno..they got caved in all night.

With last change in Tampa, AM and co are going to get a ton of Cerilli's line.

That means JT has to go against Kuch & Stammer .. that's not in the Leafs favor.

Game 3 boys .. stay out of the box... and the game and series are yours for the taking..

- dozerD10

Staying out of the box will be difficult, with Tampa style of play, especially the way the series has been called so far. This video tells us everything we need to know. Maroon did not receive a single minute of penalty for this event, yet he had his gloves off (Rielly didn't) he pulled his sweater over his head and gave him 5 uppercuts to the head. How this wasn't a match penalty and a suspension is amazing. But it is consistent with the way the league has dealt with the Leafs.

The best way to avoid hooking and holding penalties is to move your feet and keep up with the Lightning. Maroon and Rielly in game one wasn’t relevant for Kerfoot or Boosh’s calls. Play better.

Leafs are just goons

Leafs were shorthanded SEVEN (7) times last night. That’s the most amount of times they’ve been shorthanded in their last 138 games

Completely ignoring the left side of the puck could be a mistake.

They are trying to match Tampa with the physicality, which I appreciate for sure. But ya sometimes they can do it too much and leads them to mistakes and penalties.
Its a fine line, cause they needed to step up physically from the reg season, which they have done, but not too much that it takes away from their game.
Its why I was hoping they would have got into playoff mode with 5 - 10 games left in the season, give them time to work out kinks and find that median that works for them.
But I like that they are not letting Tampa push them around.

Forecheck to separate the man from the puck? Check.

Take a hit to make a play? Check.

Running around, hacking, engaging with Fat Buffoon and Whorey Fairy after the whistle? Pass.

Tampa Bay brought nothing more last night than on Monday. Toronto looked nervous on the puck and tense, not their usual selves. They will shake it off and get a win in Florida. Tampa got a lot of bounces last night that they cannot rely on. Our skill and speed does not go away. GLG

It is relevent because it showed the standard of calls applied to the Leafs vs the standard of calls applied to Tampa. The Kerfoot penalty, the Bunting penalty the Simmonds penalties were all avoidable and stupid. The non-calls on McDonagh especially when he cross-checked, interfered with and held Mikheyev and knocked the net off when Mikheyev didn't even have the puck was inexcusable.

Lets be honest, regardless of the outcome, Tampa is a really dirty team that is penalized far less than their opposition.

Kucherov got away with this

He got only two minutes for this

Can you imagine any of Matthews, Tavares, Marner or Nylander doing this? Kicking with a skate?

Game management. Penalties have to have a semblance of parity, so dirty teams get away with more because they can't possibly spend 60 minutes in the box

Jon Pooper announces before the game we have to make it more difficult for Campbell. First shift out, Magoon runs Campbell for the most effective two minute penalty of the playoffs so far.

I'm not upset and I never said you brought up Price, I did. I respect Vasilevsky and the potential there, that's all. He has said no to a lot of really good teams and I'm not going to assume it's any different because the leafs have largely gotten to him through 2 games. Also, I have PTSD from what Price did to the leafs last year.

That's just me, and just because I see it that way doesn't mean I'm suggesting you have any assumptions or opinions that fall on the opposite side. Explaining myself isn't implying you said anything.

- joel878

We clearly see this very differently and that's fine, I hope your wrong on this opinion that Vasy is the world beater he has been in prior years - I would guess you hope your wrong too on that front as a Leafs fan.

Price being even brought up in this conversation was pointless in my opinion, it's a different goalie, & a different year so I'm not sure why you even mentioned him? Saying he has given you PTSD from last year I understand however.

Moving on.

In response to Cooper's "freebie" comment, the league felt it was necessary to give Tampa a "freebie"

I guess that semblance of parity appeared when after 7 PP for Tampa Leafs were awarded their 4th with 4 minutes to play and the game basically over.

Yep. Does anyone remember the last time a Leaf player did this to an opposition goalie? I feel like that is a missing piece here, a guy who does that stuff and sometimes ends up in the box but still messes with the goalie. Tucker was great at it, who is that player now? Bunting? If so someone better tell him to go do it.

You can't do it with a 'known goon' though, it gets called every time, you need the sneaky rat type of guy who can do it under the radar 8 of 10 times.

speaking of Marchand, how can you swing your stick at another player and not get suspended for ....games?

Not sure it matters who it is, because it is a loathsome tactic IMO. That said if Leafs run into Vasilevskiy accidently on purpose as Maroon clearly did - there would be a significant retaliation on the part of Tampa, and as poorly as the officials have done their job, it might end up with an even up call and Vasilevskiy checking his blindspot for the rest of the game. Seems to me that is what Cooper was intending.

Yeah that was a pretty blatant slash to the shoulder of the Canes 3rd ??? goalie.. who looks like he's pretty damn good.

Canes defense made Mrazek look like a good goaltender.

I don't want to take credit away from said 3rd goaltender but let's just say the team in front of him makes the goaltender's job alot easier.
