ill admit to having blinders on about kap at this point. I want him jettisoned into the sun.

I'm with you there...I'm over him even if he has an awesome playoffs.

I thought he was brutal at times, but he also had some good moments as the game moved on. He had a bunch of shots and an assist on the GWG. Kind of hard to take him out.
- madmike71

i think he got tired and just started shooting instead of skating himself into the ground.

I'll take him busting down the wing and shooting all day over him trying to make plays

Louie Domingue just told @emilymkaplan he ate a meal of spicy pork between the 1st and 2nd OTs before learning he had to go in.

They've already exceeded my expectations. After that first I thought we were gonna finish with 5 healthy skaters.

Sully should sub in some youth for the old guys next game.

- Thorny87

Agreed. Boyle playing 15 minutes and rakell getting hurt doesn’t help. Hopefully zuck and O’Connor draw in. I think this would be a good series for angello to get a game or so to rest someone.

i think heinen has underrated finishing ability but he isnt going to create a ton on his own. glad malkin bulled his way down there for the tip, but this wasnt one of his best games at dictating play. carter might be able to finish too, but he trails the play entirely too much as a center at this point.

ill admit to having blinders on about kap at this point. I want him jettisoned into the sun.

zucker back would be a boost. I have a feeling if healthy he is going to be flying. Rack looked majorly (frank)ed up. who knows when hes cleared.

Genos line was 17-2 CF heading into the third. When they replaced Rakell with Kap the chances started going the other way. It was more trading chances than it was like domination like it was prior to Rakell getting injured.

I don't see that happening. Reaves was a factor in this game. He had extra pep in his step on a few shifts, couldn't believe his speed. Scary dude to be having closing in on ya hahaha
- MattStrat

Definitely a factor With his 18% xGF, 2 scoring chances for and 6 against. Hopefully Gallant keeps him in the lineup considering his line was trash and spent most of their shifts pinned in their own zone.

If motte was healthy he would be in over Reaves. They would match up a lot better against the Crosby line. Rangers are a young team and an awful second period did them in

I thought it was Heinen, Rust and Guentzel but I could be mistaken. Had a bunch of 1792 tonight.

Hey you say it I’ll buy it if that’s what the numbers say. It just really never felt like the Malkin line generated a ton of sustained or quality chances. Never really felt like that outside of the top line.

The 5 on 5 HDCF were 29-14 for the Pens that's nuts... 43 HDCs in a game is nuts... What a crazy game 1

I’m in Italy right now so I kinda slept half slept through it in and out but felt like what I did see of the game the Rangers had us on our heels a lot. I thought we spent a ton of time in the defensive zone and any line that wasn’t the Sid line struggled to establish themselves in the offensive zone.

But maybe I just happened to doze off during the actual good parts. I did miss every single Pens goal besides one of them from dozing off.

Wondered where the F you've been, even asked about ya. It's the playoffs mannnn.... Being in Italy is a good excuse though, no doubt haha.

I watched every minute of it and the 1st period was bad, like really bad, but the 2nd was Pens domination and I'd say the rest of the periods were either equal or I'd give slight edge to Pens play. There's no doubt Sid's line carried most of the play and created most of those chances.

Just got up to take on the day.. Had about 3.45 hours sleep haha : /

But that was awesome last night and added to a long list of playoff thrills this team has given me over the years... Worth the sleepy day. Extra coffee and just go bed earlier tonight. No biggie.

Hahaha well when you put it that way... Though that revelation is kinda damning, I still think he was a factor, more so in the 1st. He had Pens heads on a swivel and he was pumping the MSG crowed right up. Some of his hits could pay dividends the longer the series goes....

That’s probably why I thought that. I was really only fully conscious during the 1st period so I probably got a lasting impression from that and whenever I checked back in I just focused on the bad.

But yeah I’m basically wheels up between now and the middle of June. This Italy trip and then Tokyo for ten days and then a short break before going to Helsinki with two weddings in Indianapolis and Baltimore sandwiched in some weekends between. Trying my best to catch as much of what could be the final hurrah as I can but my ass is getting thoroughly kicked by travel right now.

Im sure marino is still feeling those hits. I few more from a 260lb bowling ball will definitely shorten his series early. Those hits make dmen hurry their passes and make mistakes...i give boyle credit he tried to settle reaves down a little...

I thought we were cooked after the short handed goal. Give the Pens credit they battled back. Trouba taking the bad penalty that lead to the five on three helped. Although that isn't always called. The Clifford hit in the Toronto/Tampa game may have had a impact there.

Good road win, don't forget we were up 2-1 in the playoffs last season to another NY team before being swept.
